re: The Raúl E. Esparza 'spread the love' thread, part four

I am the snobbiest of film snobs myself but somehow I'm ok with this. Right now I'm just happy that he's considering any film work whatsoever (as a diversion, mind you). I'm not worried that he'll run off and do just this kind of stuff for the rest of his career. How many of Wes Craven's serial killers have sung at the NY Philharmonic, right?

Oh, I'm sure he'd do great things with it, I'm just a little like "... seriously?"

I'm so ever-the-skeptic, though. And not a movie person at all. re: The Raúl E. Esparza 'spread the love' thread, part four I only see like two or three in theaters a year.

Raúl, if you (or someone close to you) are/is reading this, PLEASE talk to someone knowledgeable about the kind of cult following Wes Craven movies have, and the particular demands that places on their stars.

Fangoria.com is the website of the premier publishing conglomerate for all things relating to the sci-fi/horror genre. They have a blurb on their website about the movie. It doesn't say much more than we've already seen, but they did have this to say about Raúl:

"Broadway star Raul Esparza, whose credits include Riff Raff in the ROCKY HORROR SHOW revival, is in discussions to play the movie's villain, a serial killer who resurrects to stalk the youths who were born at the same time as his apparent death."

Definitely just nightmares. I can't do horror films, at all, they creep me out. Curiosity would get the better of me, though, if he does this. Guaranteed. And then I wouldn't sleep for a week because curiosity, after all, killed the cat.

In fact, I would probably be inclined to run in the complete OTHER direction the next time I saw him in person after seeing the movie.

I'm that much of a wimp. =P

Add me to the people who can't handle scary movies. I also want to think this won't happen, but I am assuming Raul knows what he's doing. But not my first, or even fiftieth, choice for him, in my own opinion. (ongoing HOMECOMING references)

re: The Raúl E. Esparza 'spread the love' thread, part four

Wes Craven slashers are too stupid and formulaic to be scary. Oooo, the two slutty teens are going to have sex while the ominous music is playing- I wonder what's going to happen?!

As long as he's a good looking zombie then...

I hope the distributors won't try to be clever and release the movie on 5/28/2009. I want to see it sooner!
