The Rear Mezz at the American Airlines Theater

Honestly, how bad is it back there? I can't decide if I should do hiptix for After Miss Julie (rear mezz only), or go the day of- to try to score some half priced tickets a half hour before curtain (whatever seats are remaining for that performance).
Are the seats really high up there? Because I also have a slight issue with vertigo, and if it's nose bleed inducing than I think I'll just do the student rush.

Posted: 8/28/09 at 3:32pmthe thing I hate about the American Airlines theater is that there are no center aisles. I felt incredibly uncomfortable and claustrophobic in there (and I've never had a problem with claustrophobia before or since).

Posted: 8/28/09 at 3:33pmI sat in Row E of the rear mezz at the AA for Pygmalion (and am sitting in that row for After Miss Julie too, ha) and the view was great. They don't feel that far or high up - definitely not nose bleeds at all. I also love how each row is a step up from the row in front of it so no matter who's sitting in front of you, you can still see perfectly. That theater has one of the best rear mezz sections I think.

My friend who is a big person said that he felt extremely clausterphobic and uncomfortable in the rear mezz too, like he couldn't fit his legs into the seat and had to sit sideways lol. But I'm not a huge person so I think it will be ok for me, just as long as I don't feel like I'm that high up.
Thanks!

Posted: 8/28/09 at 3:40pmYou can also try doing their general rush on the day-of. I think the price is $21.50 and maybe you'll luck out and get a seat that's not in the rear mezz at all (I'm sure if they have a set location though).

Posted: 8/28/09 at 3:48pmI sat in the last row of the mezz for HEDDA GABLER and the view is great. You feel a little far away, but for the price, it's pretty fantastic.

Posted: 8/28/09 at 4:28pmI've sat all around the rear mezz of the AA Theater thanks to the $10 first preview tickets and the view is quite good. The problem has been whatever drek that Roundabout tossed onto the stage.

Posted: 8/28/09 at 6:01pmQuite frankly, that house is so small (well, not so deep) that any seat in the mezz is fine! Beggers cant be choosers and what HipTix offers is great. Only downside is lack of center-aisle (so get friendly with strangers as you pass!)

I think the general rush is the same as hiptix. Same price ($21.50) and same seats. but then the student rush is whatever is left over at the end of the day, sold at half price.
Can someone confirm that I have it correct?
Ah, too many options too many options lol.
