I hope this happens. It's a wonderful vehicle for her.
What a great movie. This has hit potential.
I just missed her in Application Pending. I am so behind this. Broadway needs a Christina Bianco.

The movie is wonderful and Christina Bianco is perfect for this role!!
Isn't she a little... mature for this role?

^ She can easily pass for 12. Have you seen her onstage? She can play any age, but can really look like a kid.

I agree. She could easily pass for someone in her very early 20's on stage which I believe is the character's age.
What a wonderful role for her? Since she's a very special, one of a kind performer....her (future) u/s will need to be extraordinary.
Seems to odd to make it a commercial venture, but I hope it does well!

Any idea who will be playing her mother? That's a real powerhouse of a role in the right hands.
This story touched my heart, which isn't easy, can't wait. It's a play not a musical, right? Hate sounding stupid.

Yes, it's considered a play but there's quite a bit of music and singing.
I adore Christina Bianco. So thrilled for her! If you haven't seen her impressions, they're quite astounding.

Is it art or my monthly pain? Gets me every time.
She's great, she'll be better than Horrocks, this is exciting.
Does anybody know what happened here? I was so interested because this was one of my favorite movies ever.
Last time it played on Broadway it closed quickly.
Guess they lost an investor?

I saw the original on Broadway and it's not that great of a show. It was basically written around Jane Horrocks' ability to do impressions. There's no real compelling story there.
I don't know what the brouhaha was that Horrocks couldn't repeat her performance on Broadway. Probably an Equity issue of "she's not a star" magnitude. It's one of those shows that I think should have played off-Broadway.

Wasn't the original broadway production a transfer of a Steppenwolf production and not the original London?

"Wasn't the original broadway production a transfer of a Steppenwolf production and not the original London?"
I just looked that up and yes, you are correct. It was a Steppenwolf transfer. That explains why they didn't bring in Horrocks. I remember thinking it wasn't a very good production and was wondering what all the excitement over in London was about.
I would have liked to have seen Alison Steadman play the mother about ten years ago.
Seeing how it closed after only one week back in '94, it's difficult to imagine why anyone would think they could revive it with any financial success featuring a non-star like Bianco (who is perfectly amusing, in a light way, doing facile impressions, but who will, it must be admitted, never be a "star". The most recent West End revival closed after four months.
The play itself is a sweet, wispy piece of fluff, built to feature a deft impressionist; the story (soap opera-y stuff) and acting (ditto) take a back seat to the impressions.
