Nicely put Margo...and very true. In layman's terms I've said many times that Wildhorn's projects are like a good recipe that he can't seem to get all the ingredients right.

He's written a lot of music over the years, some much better than others.

Regarding talent, very few people can argue that Frank has a pretty impressive box full of stars to sing his songs and star in his debatable shows. With all the bashings his shows have taken, very rarely are the actors labeled part of the blame.

Does anyone feel as though Jekyll and Hyde was maybe worked on too much? It seems like anyone who likes the show likes the original version and not the broadway one. I know that is how I feel. I personally thought I Need To Know was a wonderful song but they took it out for the song... Lost in the Darkness, which was just plain boring... IMO

AK-need I remind you that it was the producers of the Broadway mounting of J&H that chose which songs to get rid of and which to keep.

"Does anyone feel as though Jekyll and Hyde was maybe worked on too much?"

Absolutely! The first two pre-Broadway productions were amazing and would have given Phantom of the Opera a run for its money, but they couldn't stop tinkering with it and it just became a mess. Except for some of the score, the Broadway production was an entirely different show. Had the second production (restaged for proscenium) moved directly to Broadway as is when the J&H buzz was at its peak (1994) and the release of the double-CD (which the production closely resembled), it would probably have run about ten years.

Oh I know, I am just saying that that seems to be what was wrong. Not blaming Wildhorn or anything. Just annoying that it happened. Glad to see I am not the only one who feels this way though!
