Jack O'Brien must have either fallen on hard times, has a huge gap in his schedule or has gotten an offer too good to refuse - or any combination of the above. Reminds me a little of James Lapine taking the Annie revival. The thinking is probably if the TV thing did so well across the country those folks will shell out serious dough to come see something they just saw for free. And if O'Brien can make it special who knows we may just see it on Broadway after the hinterlands. I am sure the subscriber houses are salivating.

Posted: 9/12/14 at 2:51pmI think it could turn into a "pre-Broadway" tour considering the talent involved. I'm excited to see a big, splashy production of the show. I've only ever seen like small regional productions.

What version of The Sound of Music do you guys think this production would be more like? The Original Broadway Cast (also like the live tv version) or the last Broadway Revival.
The differences I noticed was just from having the cast recordings.. the song lists are different, sung by different people, sometimes in different order, and added "I Have Confidence" from the movie.

I wouldn't count on it being that "big" a production.

I'm sure it will be very well sung, and sell quite well. It'll probably be a very good production. I just don't think it's going to have a particularly large physical production. I hope they don't go the projection route.
