The Streisand is Back with New Fall Tour

Academy Award winner Barbra Streisand will launch a new concert tour this fall.

Reuters reports that Streisand will play 20 concerts in October and November in order to raise funds for several charities. In a statement, the award-winning singer-actress said, "The increasingly urgent need for private citizen support to combat dangerous climate change, along with education and health issues was the prime reason I decided to tour again. . . .This will allow me to direct funds and awareness to causes that I care deeply about."

the only question I have is: Does this give her a right to overcharge us because the money is going to charity? I would love to go but wouldn't pay more than $150-$200(at the most). Anything more, I honestly can't shell out.

She has the right to charge whatever she wants (with or without a charity involved). I'd do the same thing as long as there are people willing and able to pay the price.

YAY! I am saving my pennies now. If Madonna can charge 350 bucks for lip-synching and a Swarovski Crystal Disco Ball, then Babs can charge what she likes. She is a true diva and so talented. Well worth the cost to see a legend and hear those buttery notes.

A friend of mine paid $1,000 for one ticket to sit in the front and center.

Ever since then he's had a savings account that he puts money into weekly. It's his "Babs" account for the next time she did a concert.

I don't want to be anywhere near him when finds out she's touring. He'll pee.

While I adore Barbra, I clearly won't be able to afford any seats that aren't nosebleed. I'm sure there will be a Tv special, a DVD, and a cd, so unless I luck out and get a close seat at a semi-good price, I'll wait for said DVD.

Please post the moment tickets go on sale...I'm starting to save now to see the Babs...I'm assuming she'll undergo LIPO before the tour. She has gained quite a bit of weight in the last year.

I'm excited. I hope she does some of her early material (perhaps from the Tv specials)

I am not sure if I want to go.

Why?

1. her lazy attitude about her singing, choice of songs, and appearance
2. there is a strong rumor that she will have an opening act like Il Divo or Josh Groban so she only has to do an hour set
3. the politics. No I am not against her politics. I am against her holier-than-thou attitude in articulating her politics.

NYC made her a star and she did zip for this town after 9-11. I find it hard to take her politics seriously when she spends 99% of her time in the lap of luxury behind guarded walls.

She sounds pretty damn good for 64; it is a shame she lost the humor and balls in her singing that she had in her 20s and 30s.

This is grand news. You tickled my soul. Although I won't be going, and am happy for all of her fans and supporters, on top of I can make jokes about farewell tours again. I kid you. Don't bite me.

Anyway, I don't think she looks bad (although her weight gain is annoying, because she has a "I'm fat, and who cares because I'm a goddess" attitude), but nobody cares if either Aretha Franklin or Barbara Cook gain weight because they add it to their material, as opposed to ignoring it. Nothing against Babs! She looks fine! Whatever! Just kind of addressing the AF or BC thing is all.

Me pay money to attend a concert given by That Streisand Woman? NO WAY!!!!!!!!! However I would pay big bucks for the opportunity to tell her off for half an hour!
