The catch phrase for this show is "Can a Broadway show take down a sitting President?" lol

I guess it shouldn't come as a huge surprise --- but it's still disheartening to see how many repugs are oozing out from under the BWW woodworks!

You don't have to be a Republican to dislike Michael Moore.

This is the first time I can honestly say I hope a Broadway show fails miserably.
Cant stand that pig.

Babe Williams said it brilliantly earlier in this thread. He's an opportunist.

How is he an opportunist? He's a guy who genuinely cares about people and issues and isn't afraid to be outspoken about his opinions. Henrikegerman is right, he's a national treasure.

Probably by watching something other than Fox News.

Because I've seen his movies. Because he got his start making a documentary about hard times in his home town because he cared. Jesus Christ, I've woken the beast.

...I'm not even sure that any Republicans have posted on this thread. Plenty of liberal folks, myself included, have grown tired of his shtick. Loved Roger & Me and Bowling for Columbine but I've found his stuff since then grating and overly self-promotional.

Cause no one would ever ignore their own shortcomings and present an overly positive and sympathetic image of themselves in their own movies to advance their brand.
He's reportedly worth $50 million but does he consider himself now part of the elite 1% he made his reputation on skewering? Oh no, he's still just a man of the people. Hey, where else have I heard a filthy rich guy trying to convince us he's a man of the people? Can't place it. Feels like someone recently.

So you hate him because he's rich? Because he happened to defy all probability by making a lot of money from documentaries? Should he give all his money away to make people like you feel better?

Oh, dear God. The point was to show how disingenuous he is. If it was about his net worth, I would have just said he's worth $50 million. I love Jerry Seinfeld who's worth $870 million. Does that shoot your "theory" about "people like me" in the foot? You don't know what someone is REALLY like unless you REALLY know them, not just from their movies. To believe otherwise is remarkably naive.

And yet refuses to now shoot in, and house his production company, in his home state because he'd rather be privy to the tax breaks/incentives he receives in Los Angeles. A bit hypocritical, no?

No, I got that, it's why I asked if you think he should give his money away. But unless you can point me to where he says that having money is bad, I fail to see how that makes him disingenuous. It's not his fault that people wanted to hear what he had to say and paid money for it.
And you're right, none of us really know him. So I do what everyone does when judging someone they don't know: I use my eyes, my ears, my knowledge, and my intuition. I still haven't seen any evidence that he doesn't care about people. I feel like the burden of proof is on those attacking him.

Michael Moore does genuinely care. About Michael Moore. If tickets were free, I might go out of curiosity, but I won't put a penny in his pocket.

He "shoots" all over the place, including Michigan, so I don't really know what you're talking about. He makes documentaries, not studio movies with actors (other than Canadian Bacon, which was shot in Canada). And I believe he lives in L.A. So, no, it's not hypocritical.

Maybe 25 years ago, when he was just getting started, his intentions were noble. But these days, he spends his time flinging crap at people in some cases solely because they are in a group he himself is now a member of. Maybe hypocritical is a better term to describe it than disingenuous. To use an exaggerated example, it's like someone filming a wealthy person in a BMW 7 series driving past a group of homeless people.and then interviewing them about what they think of someone being able to drive an $85,000 car while they're living in a cardboard box. And then at the end of that, the interviewer gets a lift back to where he parked his Mercedes and drives home. It's an easy way to spark rage, to get people to embrace your narrative by showing an exaggerated example and presenting it as the norm. It's the same playbook the right has used to demonize immigrants and minority groups. I'm not saying he's done that EXACTLY, but hopefully it's clear enough that you will understand my point.
Look, you can love this guy all you want. Go see his play, Go see it 10 times for all I care. I have no doubt you'll enjoy it tremendously and hang on every word cause he knows exactly what you want to hear.

He knows next to nothing about the issues he claims to. He cares about him self and loves hearing his own voice.
Not gonna lie...wouldn't feel bad at all if this fails during previews :)

So you don't remember how he tried to co opt the women's march and scream about Bernie until Ashley Judd took the microphone from him? Lol. Listen, earlier in his career, MM did a lot for progressive causes. But In 2016, he spent the entire primary undermining HRC then published his disingenuous blog post hand wringing about how Trump would win. Again, opportunist. Maybe this will be successful, maybe not. But to me, it will come off as another "oh look, Broadway east coast elites attacking the GOP," and will detract from the quality shows that will be on at the same time.

Give it a break. You've made it perfectly clear on previous threads where your political beliefs lie, so it is absolutely no surprise that you would hope for this show's failure. Bye bye. Fox News is on to feed you more garbage. I hope you enjoy swallowing it.

^ Do you anything on here aside from maliciously attack others? You're an insufferably miserable, vapid, and all-around nasty gay man who readily supplies the stereotype of "bitchy kween" to those aiming to hurt us. Put on a happy face. You're making me depressed.
