Just ask.
And you will discover he is as sweet as he is talented!
Which is saying alot!

Posted: 1/28/06 at 11:48pmWell, since the plot of Movin' Out was impossible to know (unless you read the playbill) I'm sure this will be just as good. Haha.

I totally followed the plot of "Movin Out"
It was a story of friendships and a country going thru a Bad time and how those friendshops were affected.
And it really wasn't about a plot but an artistic dance and song rendition of a specific time.

I doubt there is a promo code for this show. If there is, it's for preview shows, which are sold out pretty much.
There are at least two ways to get out from Old Globe. One is from the side (near the restrooms) another is through the front door of the theatre. Very few people wait at Old Globe as most of the patrons are older generations. Michael is a very sweet person indeed.
The plot of this show is very simple. However, if a person didn't like Movin' out and like more traditional musical shows (that have book, dance, songs etc), I doubt the person would like this show.

When ordering tickets from the Old Globe website, you can enter a promo code when you log in with your username. I doubt any discounts would be applicable to this particular show, but I figured it was worth a shot if anyone knew the code.
ETA- Oh, never mind...$19 student discounts!

According to the site:
Q: Can I get a discount on tickets?
A) We offer a limited number of $19 tickets for select performances. These tickets are purchased on a first-come first-served basis and are available as soon as single tickets go on sale. Discounts are also available for most performances for active duty military, senior citizens and students with valid I.D.

There is going to be another 1 week extension, which hasn't been officially announced yet. But cast and crew are contracted for it, and box office is preparing for it.
For evening shows, most actors have parking behind the theatre. In which case, you won't see them come out. That's not always the case, however.
Seeing it tomorrow...can't wait!

Okay, I wasn't going to post this because it is such a negative review, but my friend saw this show last week and this is what he thought:
... "The vocals were saccharine and smarmy. The women were shrill coffeehouse sopranos. The "young man Dylan" was a Bobby Sherman look alike that belabored every phrase like Robert Goulet singing Dylan. The "old man Dylan" looked like a street person on muscatel. Couldn't hit any high notes. Lay Lady Lay, was spent rolling around on a trampoline, while a bed was still on stage. (?) A lot of "air guitar" solos. The dancing was the highlight - the singing stunk. A lot of talking the verses for dramatic impact. It kept reminding me of William Shatner's dramatic interpretation of Rocket Man."
Sorry, but that is what he thought. My boyfriend and I were going to go, but now I am not so sure. I suppose we could just drive down to the Old Globe (only 15 minutes away) and try for some discounted tickets. Will definitely not be paying full price.

thanks for your review Irene2. With such positive buzz from other people, it's nice to hear some differing opinions. I'm still gonna watch it though, but I guess with not-so-high expectations. With the "interesting" plot, it's hard for me to imagine a fantabulous show.
Any stage door stories??
