Bit of a nice surprise. It is bittersweet but must make Kander,Chita and the entire company happy. Get out your dancing yellow shoes.
Let's not blow this out of proportion, this is not a big deal at all. This chart just means that it sold the most out of any cast recording. Finding Neverland will most likely be #1 next week and then Wicked and BoM will continue to be neck-and-neck.
No need to throw cold water on this news no.matter how brief it may be.
It may not mean huge numbers, but it does mean people are hearing the score and people care. Far from every new cast recording hits that.

Talk about Debbie Downer. There is always someone ready to kill someones buzz. ![]()
According to Amazon it's no longer available except through third parties.
Has it already gone out of print?!
I noticed that, too, icecreambenjamin! Is that possible? Or perhaps retailers like Barnes and Noble and Best Buy, etc. still have them in stock? I have a digital copy, but wanted a physical copy as well.
It means they underestimated the number of copies they would sell with the physical release, so now they have to order a new pressing, which takes time.
Just checked Amazon. Still shows it being sold with this note" 18 left . Order soon". MP3 still being sold as well.
It's still showing that it's unavailable from Amazon.
Fantod, usually when they are temporarily out of stock it will say so, but it's telling me right now that it's only available from third parties.
I'm happy I bought it. It's the best cast recording of the year and the score is absolutely divine.
It really is an excellent album. I wish more of the crucial dialogue had been recorded (weird to have ANY if the terms of Claire's agreement is not clear), but the songs sound excellent.
My copy finally arrived yesterday from Amazon and it is to die for. The booklet has all the lyrics and a full synopsis, and I agree with icecreambenjamin, I think i may be the best recording of last season. Some people say it's a "second-rate" Kander and Ebb score, but I think it's their best score since The Rink, although Kiss of the Spider-Woman has its moments (I personally love the score of The Rink, Liza and Chita together? Heaven.) The ensemble does terrific work and the orchestra is lush. A fantastic job to all involved.
"Yellow Shoes" has been stuck in my head all. Freaking. Week. Also, really concentrating on the lyrics to "Love and Love Alone," as opposed to focusing on the whole scene when I was at the show- I have decided even more how gorgeous a song it is. Viva Chita.
I have been listening to this album nonstop all week. I know I will cherish it for many years.
It's like buttah.

I love You You You! It is the best song on the recording. I also love "I will never leave you"
It's a sublime cast recording, I'm glad to see it's selling so well
Is it Rees on the recording or his understudy?
Rees is on the album.
In a perfect world the Tony for best score would've been a tie between Fun Home and The Visit.
It's definitely Kander and Ebb's most romantic score.

So true and ironic regarding the material.

I am beyond thrilled to have heard that this cast recording is number one on the billboard. Just recieved this week my cd of The Vist from Amazon and have not stopped listening to it since its arrival. Kudos to everybody involved in this long awaited production. It is a beautiful score to relish. It sits right now next to my CDs of The Scottsboro Boys, Bridges of Madison County, Sunday in the Park with George, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Chicago BUT with Revera and Verdon, and the original Rag Time. I want all of them to be playing at my wake!!
"I want all of them to be playing at my wake!!"
That's quite a selection! Lol
Seriously though, "Love And Love Alone" as played in the finale on the zither would be outstanding wake music. Like for a funeral procession too.
Kander and Ebb are one of the major artistic inspirations for the show I'm writing. This show was like a shot in the arm when my inspiration was flagging.
