re: The best and worst live performance witnessed

Best:
Christine Ebersole in "Grey Gardens" I was crammed into the most uncomfortable seat on the planet and not once did I look at my watch. . that says something. The way she said "I'm extremely organized" before AWIAST literally made me jump and tear up. An incredibly tight performance. . dramatically and comedically.

Worst:
Ariana Fernandez in the national tour of "Rent". . by god I've never seen a worse performance in a musical. I've heard better "Out Tonight"'s by gay men at karaoke.

re: The best and worst live performance witnessed

Norbert's performance in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was just fatnastic, fantastic work, in my opinion. It truly was the best performance I've ever seen, and secured his shaky spot as my male role model for life.

The worst? Well, George Hearn phoned in just about the worst performance of the Wizard that I could ever imagine. He stumbled over his lines (I'd seen the show numerous times, and the words that come out of his mouth were nothing like Winnie Holzman's original script), failed to impress with dancing, and croaked instead of sang. I'm not sure if I can call it the worst, on second thought, as that could also go to the understudy I saw go on as Lawrence in DRS. Horrible, horrible, horrible. (And no, I'm not a two-trick pony; I've seen more shows than Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Wicked, thank you very much.)

Best -
Alan Alda in Glengarry Glenross
Liev Schreiber in Glengarry Glenross
Come to think of it, pretty much everyone in that cast was amazing.

Laura Linney in Sight Unseen

I don't have any worst experiences, as of yet.

re: The best and worst live performance witnessed

Well I’ve seen a lot of great performances, so I would define “best” as a performance so great, that you forget it’s just a character in a show, and it seems like you’re watching a real person.

Best
Douglas Sills as Percy in the Pimpernel Tour. Seriously my mouth was hanging open during “Prayer”. When I watched him, I wasn’t even thinking that it was his final performance. It was just Percy.

Worst
Corey Glover as Judas in the JCS Farewell Tour. It.Was.Bad. I was actually snickering at one point, and I wasn’t trying to!

re: The best and worst live performance witnessed

Best

Ethel Merman in "Hello, Dolly!"
Angela Lansbury in "Gypsy"
Tyne Daly in "Gypsy"
Hugh Jackman "The Boy From Oz"
Anita Morris "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas"
Austin Miller (Link) in "Hairspray"
Richard H Blake (Tony) in "Saturday Night Fever"
Lauren Bacall in "Applause"

The Absolute Worst Ever....

The entire cast of "Lestat" EXCEPT for the 3 minutes or so of the little girl vampire singing "I Want More".

"I've lost everything! Luis, Marty, my baby with Chris, Chris himself, James. All I ever wanted was love." --Sheridan Crane "Passions" ------- "Housework is like bad sex. Every time I do it, I swear I'll never do it again til the next time company comes."--"Lulu" from "Can't Stop The Music" ----- "When the right doors didn't open for him, he went through the wrong ones" - "Sweet Bird of Youth" ------------ --------- "Passions" is uncancelled! RevolutionaryCostume, I completely agree with you're worst list. She was just god-awful! (Though I must admit, the guy who played Roger was amazing, woohoo to Bryce Ryness!)

Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body
