I was just reading Time Out NY and the Hairspray listing states that George Wendt's last performance is January 20th. I didn't realize his run was so short. Does anyone know who the next Edna is going to be?
Please let it be John Goodman! He would be fabulous.

Goodman would be amazing.
C'mon Margo!
If not Goodman someone of his magnitude.

Posted: 1/4/08 at 11:23pmGeorge Wendt was initially only signed for three months (from his October start date) but he's been doing great and as far as I know isn't going anywhere.

Seth MacFarlane doesn't fit the physical type for this role.
And yes, I know you were joking.
I remember days
Or at least I try
But as years go by
They're sort of haze
And the bluest ink
Isn't really sky
And at times I think
I would gladly die

He could get a fatsuit.
He drinks enough as it is. He says he drinks because public appearances make him nervous - imagine what a Broadway show would do to him.

A drunk Edna probably WOULDN'T "like the way she is", or she wouldn't have to drink.
It would be a completely new way to look at the character, though!

I love Blake Hammond!
I interviewed him at Broadway and Broadway and he is my favorite overall, Edna.
(I also adore Harvey and Bruce)
