Did GEORGE boost sales?
Maybe he'll extend?
Although GOODMAN has always been my DREAM choice.

Rosie O'Donnell in drag.
Trump would have a field day with that.
I remember days
Or at least I try
But as years go by
They're sort of haze
And the bluest ink
Isn't really sky
And at times I think
I would gladly die
For a day of sky

I was headed to dinner last night and saw Mr Wendt trekking up 8th to the theater at 7:22pm...I would have thought it would take longer than the half hour call to get him "edna-ized". Must be a great team they have.

I thought he was more than competent when I saw him day after strike ended. Not a fan of Vilanch at all. Harvey still #1 out of the 3 I have seen.

It doesn't take long at all. We had it down to 15 minutes for hair and make-up and then 15 minutes to get dressed, but usually I had Edna on stage before the show even started.

If any of you saw Vilanch's one man show at Westbeth, you would realize he is the funniest man, period.
I LOVE HIM.
I love his sense of humor. He is a legend and I adore his wit.
His tee shirts are almost as funny as he is.

^ If Edna can speak all of the songs, can we pick William Shatner instead?

"Everytime one of these threads comes up, someone mentions John Goodman. Bring him in already!"
From what I understand, he was offered the part and passed.

NYC should keep it's fingers crossed that Michael Ball comes over when he finishes in London in October!
He is a revelation!

Sorry to bump this up but today is supposed to be George's last day, has anybody heard anything on who his replacement is going to be?
I'm not sure if it means anything but according to Playbill.com's Who's Who's page, Blake Hammond just left The Lion King. I know they're not reliable but he has been Pumbaa for a while but just this past Monday or Tuesday they replaced him on the website.

"My favorite Edna is Paul Vogt"
Yay im not the only person who thinks so! he was fabulous!
"Rosie O'Donnell in drag"
hahaha! if she was cast i might have to see the show again, and then probably beat the crap out of the casting directors,
re: The next Edna?#40
Posted: 1/25/08 at 6:36amWendt is still listed on the cast page at Playbill (which was updated to show Clarke Thorell's return), so he must have extended (??)
re: The next Edna?#41
Posted: 1/25/08 at 7:16ammijofly19 you just mentioned Blake Hammond leaving Pumba in The Lion King witch made me think Ernie Sebella(sp) Pumba from the movie The Lion King would be perfect as Edna. I could check IBDB to double check, but I can't think of anything he's been in on Broadway since Guys and Dolls. I saw him as Amos in Chicago when I saw the show in Vegas and he was spectacular. He would be a great Edna.

Posted: 1/25/08 at 9:44amHe's been on Broadway fairly steadily since Guys and Dolls. He is currently (or just recently left) Curtains, and was seen in Sweet Charity, Man of La Mancha, multiple stints as Amos in Chicago (as you mentioned), and the Forum revival.
re: The next Edna?#44
Posted: 1/25/08 at 9:47amAlthough Clarke Thorell's picture has been added to the website, Michele Dowdy's picture is still up, but she left the show months ago.

I think Blake is only temporarily out of Lion King.
I heard he pulled something and needed a few weeks to recuperate.

I miss paul vogit 2. I saw him, he was AMAZING!
My parents wouldn't let me stay at the stage door though.
So we went to a dessert place and guess who walked in the door.
It was paul! He was really nice he talked to me for a while and signed my playbook!
re: The next Edna?#47
Posted: 1/25/08 at 3:49pmWasn't Paul the youngest Edna as well?
re: The next Edna?#48
Posted: 1/25/08 at 7:26pmI just saw the show for the 7th time on Wednesday (Jan 23) and George was still there... so maybe he extended?
re: The next Edna?#49
Posted: 1/25/08 at 8:04pmI just saw it the other day with wendt - i thought he was great!
