Does anyone know a place in NYC where I can get cheap broadway memorabilia?
Thanks!
I'm not really sure. Last time I was up there, I didn't find any store, because we had to go to the theater right away.
The Colony definitey ain't cheap though!
You know truth be told, there isn't much in the theatre stores that you can't find online for cheaper. I know its not the same thrill as buying it on your trip, but if you really are worried about cost...
Every store selling theatre stuff in New York is a rip off.
Go online.
What are people's suggestions for online websites? The only ones I know of are broadwaynewyork.com and playbill.com, and their prices are generally similar to buying in a New York store.

What was the point of posting then?
There is a store on 44th and 8th right next to the St. James. It has a lot of theater stuff including a bunch of books.
Then there is a very small one in Shubert Alley.
And there is one under the Marriot hotel on 45th.
All of them are extremely expensive but fun to waste time in.

Also, all of those stores will be selling merch of the shows currently running for more than you can buy them at the theater. Those store are not allowed to undersell the merch booths at the shows.

Seriously. You're better off buying stuff online. When you're paying like $30-35 for a t-shirt, which is what a lot of stores charge for Broadway t-shirts, it's just beyond ridiculous.

I was in the store in the Marriot last month, and I was complaininag about the prices and a woman told me about a website she found www.broadwayauction.com She also said that the theaers usually have the better price on most items. The stores in NY have gotten so expnsive.
I try to buy from the theaters if I can, only because they don't charge sales tax.

Ummm...yes, they do. It's "hidden" in the price of the item(s) you purchase.
True, but I meant it's not tacked onto the sticker price. A T-shirt marked as $15 in a theater will actually cost $15, while a T-shirt marked $15 in a store will cost about $17.
