from playbill.com:

"The CBS broadcast will feature performances by Elaine Stritch, Michael Cerveris, Christine Ebersole, Sutton Foster, Shuler Hensley, Brian d'Arcy James, Jane Krakowski, Rebecca Luker and Bebe Neuwirth as well as the cast of the Tony-winning musical Jersey Boys."

Some great performances to watch, but as expected, some great performances that won't be broadcast.

Urgh but will they hit us again with their 15-minute long commercials about how we should contribute with a donation because CBS is keeping theatre alive?

CBS is channel 2 in NY area and is a major network which most likely would not be seeking donations like PBS would. I believe Broadway Under the Stars is scheduled to broadcast on Saturday, July 15. I think at around 7:00pm.

Hopefully they re-recorded Elaine Stritch as she was having mic problems and the sound was static.

I'm looking forward to seeing those performances, although I agree that they should show Carolee.

I'm pretty sure that www.cbsnewyork.com will have the broadcast in it's entertainment video section after it airs. They've done that the past couple of years.

They should just take out Stritch completely and put in Kelli O'Hara and Matthew Morrison. I know Matt wasn't very good, but Kelli gave the single best performance of the night. They should also take out Shuler Hensley and put in Michael Arden, who was very good. I'll be bummed if they put the bad performances in. re: These seem to be the performances from Broadway Under the Stars that wi

I'm pretty upset as well that "Balcony Scene" won't be broadcast re: These seem to be the performances from Broadway Under the Stars that wi

Watching the show a day late:

When is Jane Krakowski ever going to play a different character?

Balcony Scene isn't so bad on TV, I actually thought Matthew was pretty good. Kelli was fine too, nothing special.

Very happy to see Renee Goldberry made the cut, especially she is on a competing network. I heart her.

As for Carolee, I think she was still channeling Lestat's mother, because she was laying it on mucho thick. But she was clearly having a blast and it was easy to fall under her spell.

HughE, I don't know if they re-recorded, but Elaine was on the show, and aside from some wind being picked up on the mic, you heard Elaine just fine, and it was a beautiful performance.

Sigh. I was at a luau and the performers were singing three requests of mine so I couldn't exactly get up and run off to the TV inside, and then it was the fire dance, and here I thought if there were a balcony scene it would be in the second hour, though I was doubtful after this lineup

and I dashed inside at five to eight, less than one hour of the--dammit--abbreviated show, and got Liza and Hal Prince and fireworks--

SOB! (and S.O.B., too!)

I missed it again!
