Billy Bush is a loud idiot, and it really sucks that those of us that have a remote interest in the show will have to endure him.
ok, so i only skimmed through this entire thread, but a couple people have asked when it airs, and i didnt see an answer.
It airs starting tonight (so im assuming Sundays) at 8:00 on NBC.
the reality show is to find the danny and sandy for the show. but will they also be looking for additional casting on the side?
The other parts will be cast like any other Broadway show.
And please people, don't be naive. This is TV. Whatever promises to bring millions of dollars in and fast will be done.
Could they have picked a better show? It is not about that, it is what would be most lucrative - one of the most famous musicals and musical movies that almost everyone is familiar with? Duhh.
This "thing" will make in two seconds what all your favorite Broadway flops never managed to make in years.

And that is what makes it sad. Mindless people will line up for this crap and good shows are ignored. I guess that's what happens when you produce shows that cater to the lowest common denominator and then charge $111 for a weeknight Orchestra seat.
I've only skimmed the thread, because I'm lazy, but I thought I'd put in my two cents...
You know what, as much as I hate reality TV... talent is talent. I mean, aside from the initial auditions (which is the only part of "American Idol" that I ever found remotely entertaining), they're not going to let anyone who can't sing actually get through. Granted, the "voting audience" will probably pick the best sob story and not the biggest talent. But by the time they get to that part I'm guessing most of the competitors will at least be able to carry a tune in a bucket and act their way out of a paper bag. Also, the open call puts equity and non-equity on and even playing field, which rarely happens (I say as a veteran of crashing many equity calls... and sitting for hours hoping to get a spot).
And Grease is probably one of the most over-commercialized musicals in existance already. Does it need another revival? Hell no. Would I rather they use it for their reality show rather than a better, non-commercially-mangled show? Hell yes.
I only read the first page of this thread but Kathleen Marshall is making me want to watch this. I'm curious to see how this works out.
Well so far the Critics are hating it, but it's TV so who the F*ck knows.
