Rachel, stop it. These threads are a total waste of bandwidth and time.

Oh I saw it.
It was TRASH and mediocre trash at that.

Posted: 3/20/05 at 5:49pmThis whole Brooklyn thread barrage reminds me of that asteroid game where you try and keep the cities from getting blown up but the little buggers keep coming faster and faster...

Posted: 3/20/05 at 5:52pmI truly believe that if the reviews were positive, most people would "like" it. I didn't LOVE it, but I liked it, and sometimes reviews can hinder those opioniated individuals' perception of a show...

Posted: 3/20/05 at 5:53pmi thought it was nice, mindless fun, but really Thes- do we need all of those threads?

Everyone I know that hates it HAS seen it. (And that's a lot of people.)
In your defense, not everyone I know that has seen it hates it.
But how would you know if people have seen a show or not? It's very rude to assume things like that, and attack the board.

Posted: 3/20/05 at 5:53pmi saw it a week after reviews came out- and only read NEWSDAYS... Trust me... the review is not what altered my thoughts... I really wanted to like it, and went in thinking i would.... but i just couldnt.

Posted: 3/20/05 at 5:53pmi HAVE seen it, this show has no chance at the tonys...you walk through the city and see Brooklyn ads on garbage cans its a hint at what garbage the show is...

I saw it in previews before ANY reviews were out.
And it was TRASH -- truly one of the worst shows I've ever seen on Broadway in 30 years of theatregoing.

Posted: 3/20/05 at 5:57pmI saw it too. Never have 90 minutes gone so slowly. I thought the creators were responsible for a slowing down of the Earth's rotation.

It gives trash a bad name.
#16re: Those who trash brooklyn have not even seen it.
Posted: 3/20/05 at 5:58pmI saw it, too. At one point, I weighed the pros and cons of stabbing myself with the Bic pen in my pocket.

Posted: 3/20/05 at 6:00pmmagruder, Brooklyn isn't responsible for slowing the earth's rotation. However, it IS responsible for global warming, the recent eruption of Mount St. Helens, and Paris Hilton's record label. God is angry, and Brooklyn is to blame.

If your intention in starting this thread was to endear people to "Brooklyn" you have failed at your task. It's easier to just let this show die a natural death. To continue to bring it up just opens up the door for those of us who have seen it, and really think that it IS trash, to continue to beat it into the ground. People who have just come to this board would not have known what many of us think had you not brought it up, so why don't you give us and "Brooklyn" and break.
And by the way I also saw it in Preview and formed by own opinion as I do about every show that I see.

Posted: 3/20/05 at 6:02pmThe ONLY smart thing that the producers/creative team did was deciding not to have an intermission -- can you imagine the mass exodus if there was one?

Margo, obviously you havent seen Good Vibrations yet.
#23re: Those who trash brooklyn have not even seen it.
Posted: 3/20/05 at 6:07pmBKLYN is far worse than GOOD VIBRATIONS. At least sitting watching that garbage you can take comfort in the fact that there are (not very well used, mind you) at least SOME good songs in it.

Well I just can't understand what in the world has happened to respect.
Once... there was a time when a show could be on Broadway, and people could see it, and those people could choose (on their own, without reviews OR spammers on BroadwayWorld.com message boards influencing them) whether they liked it or not.
And that world was a very beautiful place-- a place of discussion and love.
I have shed a tear today for humanity, ladies and gentlemen.
May my children one day live in a place of Broadway respect!
