Sounds like a song that should be in a show to me. Well, besides the chorus repeats. Not much "hit" factor to it to me. They could've made the melody a lot catchier. Hope to see LBB on CMT! Still have to see the video. Hope this makes it on the Top 20 Countdown.
I love CMT. I hate LBB.
I'm wrestling with so many emotions right now! xoxo
LBB is not my favorite by any means, but I LOVE this song. this video is awesome too! tapping into her theatrical roots Id say, but it works! Congrats to her!
I've always loved Laura Bell. I love the song and I really enjoyed the video. I thought it was very cute and well done. I don't know if it will make her a huge country music star but, I wish her all the best.
I think the song is fantastic, the video is fantastic. Laura looks hot. This song is a sure-fire hit. She's got somethin' good on her hands.
I listened to the other song on her website, Cigarette, and while it sounds beautiful, I have absolutely no idea what it's about. It sounds like she's just singing a bunch of words. Beautiful words! But I can't make out a plot line for it and that bothers me. Like, most songs have a story. Giddy On Up talks about cheating. Uhh, Mine, All Mine from Bat Boy in London is about their love, Behind These Walls by Scott Alan is about not getting over a lost lover, etc. But I can't pick out the story in Cigarette. Any thoughts?
I love it! I'm not the biggest LBB fan, but I am a huge country music fan. You can definitely see LBB's personality in this. I'm a fan.

I like the second verse most of all. I think they should have included the sounds of their footsteps during the outside dance number with the music video. Overall, nice job, Laura Bell. :)

it looks like a show i saw at fort wilderness in Disney world when i was a kid. wait..was that the hoopdy doo review? Same thing.
Are we all watching the same video? It's horrible. The only thing worse than that song is the video. I just can't imagine it getting Nashville radio play.

I liked it. Maybe a little too much "twang". Man, that guy was easy on the eyes. If she needs a job, maybe Doralee in the touring production of "9to5"?

You CLEARLY do not know Country.
"This song is a sure-fire hit."
As someone who has passionately followed the Country Music industry, in line with Broadway, I can promise you that this is *not* a "sure-fire hit". It barely skims the surface of quality CMT material; in regards to both the song and music video.
And your confusion about the "Cig..." song is fair enough. You must remember, however, that it is Country - sometimes we like to throw in a song or two that makes no sense/has no story/is just for fun/etc./etc.
Though I do find that comical since the Country genre is BEST at telling stories (better than musical theatre, believe it or not). xoxoxo
Well, in response to MusicSnob...none of us can really predict whether or not it's going to be a "hit." You never know with commercial music. I guess we just have to wait and see.
We're usually on the same "page" with our thoughts Mywonder... You really think it has the potential?
This song pales in comparison to the current top 10 or even 20 country hits.
No, I actually agree with you. I, personally, find it appealing...but, I don't think LBB will be becoming a country music sensation over night by any means.
Growing up in the South and pretty much LIVING country music, I must say this lacks depth and originality that many female country singers have been bringing to the table for years.
But, like I said...I enjoyed it (despite its flaws) and you never know what'll happen in the music industry.
Okay found a video compatible with Canadian computers :P I think it is absolutely a fun video and its so awesome to get to see Laura shining :) Updated On: 1/18/10 at 02:39 PM

I'm having a hard time looking at her as a country music singer. It just feels a little too carrie underwood to me....and carrie underwood she is not.
Alright, musicsnob. We have a problem. As someone who was born in Nashville, raised in Texas and Georgia and Kentucky, and has grown up with country music, I'm gonna say that I know what I'm talking about. You don't know me and it's ignorant to make such wild assumptions about a person that you will never meet.
It's a good song. It's a great video, minus the utterly dumb "I'm gonna jump out a window naked and land on the ground fully clothed" part. I know my music.
Everything is relative. With the current top 20 country hits, this song is FAR from being a "hit".
Look at everything that's topping the list - Country genre has completely moved away from the aggressive 'rock country/deep south' sound. Sara Bluxton, Lady Antebellum, Dierks Bentley, a select number of Brad Paisley tunes, a few of the Darius Rucker hits, and even Sarah Evans (at times).
Yes, there will always be a Trace Adkins or Jason Aldean but, even so, look at how their music has changed over the last few years. Many alternative pop tunes and generic Nashville ballads.
Not so much of a Brooks & Dunn "Hillbilly Deluxe" sound anymore. Even Miranda Lambert, in my humble opinion, has become irrelevant with her aggressive 'deep south' rock.
So if you can't *see* that then we'll have just agree to disagree. xoxoxo

Cute song, not feeling the video, though.
Born and raised in Nashville, here. The song and video are terrible. She looks silly and the song tries WAY too hard to sound VERY country. It looks like a video making fun of country music. It won't be played. I asked a couple of my die hard country fan friends to watch it and they laughed and not in a good way.

Did she get her bad nosejob fixed? Her nose doesn't look as creepy anymore.
Laura Bell Bundy has a problem that a lot of former child actors have. She overacts EVERYTHING, including this video. The over the top eye bugs and expressions, the way she can't ever seem to hold her head still. Homegirl needs to go acting school or something.
For her first time "at the rodeo" the result is a sophomoric attempt. Simple, uninteresting direction and photography laden with dinner theatre choreography. This before we even get to the song which is merely serviceable. In addition, Bundy is performing for the stage and not the camera. The camera is not kind to her and she has a crossed-eye look for most of the close-ups. 3/4 shots would have been her best friend here. I guess both her and the director have not heard of the old adage, less is more.

Some Country Music I really like, some is just SO stupid, unnecessary really. Anyhwo,I have no idea what's on the Country charts right now, but here are my opinions on the song and video. It's a cute song, not the best Country song I have heard, but it isn't terrible. Now the video, while it has some good qualities, the constant close ups were, for a lack of better termonolgy, amateurish.
