The video is actually cute-ish and better than I would have expected. That said, the video can't hide the song, and the song is... oh dear. It's like a segment from Waiting For Guffman if it were about country music instead of a small town musical. She looks fine, as long as you aren't terrified of what might crawl out from under her extensions... which I am.
The video is about a prostitute they gets cheated on? Ironic.
I think the real reason most of you don't "like" the song is because of stupid Broadway gossip and you're ashamed to like something done by the "rival" of your precious Sutton Foster.
GET THE F*CK OVER IT.
Laura has talent and potential. If two successful record labels didn't think that she had talent, do you think we'd be discussing this?
Talent has nothing whatsoever to do with gossip.

i don't think that if a record label signs you then that means you have talent.
Let's get real here for a second.
I could see people line dancing to this at the country bar I go to. Maybe not two-stepping though. It has more of a line dance feel to it. it's an ok song and the video really doesn't have an authentic country feel to it. it's more like a performance. (Does that make sense?!)

It does make sense. The video's director works with scenester pop rock bands, and won the VMA for Panic! at the Disco's I Write Sins Not Tragedies, and a lot of his work after that has cribbed on that same camp performance in a dusty dilapidated setting aesthetic.
Oh god, Laura Bell Bundy is my favorite "love to hate" Broadway performer. I hate country music, and consequently I find her country music incredibly entertaining. Not enough to listen to it, but enough to watch it a few times and LOL. I love the campy over the top brassiness, because modern country music tries too hard to be classy and well put together and I'm just not having it. Country stars should be a little bit more like Laura Bell. Hot mess.

What? I don't like it because I grew up listening to country music and this song sucks. The performance is over the top. Like Scott68 said, it's like a Waiting For Guffman segment. It's like it should have been the future of Doralee in 9to5 the musical. The big eyes and the over mouthing of the words makes the video laughable. There are funny country songs and a lot of them, but in today's radio, this won't make a ripple. I keep rewatching to try to give it another chance but it's really really bad.

I'll defend her. I really respect Laura Bell Bundy's talent. There's no denying that she's got it. To go out (and be able to branch out), make a record after Broadway , do something attached to her roots in country, is a great step for her. I would think this Board would be more proud or supportive of an actor who gets to do something like this. She looks fantastic in the video and the campiness of it is a pretty good ode and play with the style. It fits her, I think. I also believe Laura is a performer who delivers in a time of too many reality "stars" who are so untalented and waste my time. For the entertainment value of what it is, it's a cute video, and I hope she has a successful tour with the album.
BWW is eating posts again.
You don't know me and it's ignorant to make such wild assumptions about a person that you will never meet.

NOW who's making assumptions about people she's never met?
I listen to a lot of country, of all kinds and all eras, and I don't think she sounds like a country singer at all. Sure she's talented -- I agree that with a little work this could make a good "9 to 5" type Broadway number -- but to me this looks like a serious misstep for her. Maybe I'm wrong, we'll see. But I'll be surprised if it gets much airplay.

Are you huffing paint thinner?
Jim Colyer and Jerry Mitchell, a collaboration made in heaven!
Is it just me or does that picture of LBB mounting the mechanical horse make anyone else a wee bit uncomfortable?

LOL.
If there's one thing I love it's Broadway World LBB drama. Let's relax a bit, shall we?
Just to start, I am in no way a crazy Laura Bell Bundy fan. She was cute and charismatic in Legally Blonde, and she's breaking out into the Country scene. Good for her. Some of you are still bitter about the Sutton thing, and hey, that sucks, and if the rumors are true, damn, what a dick move. But come ON, guys, this is really the worst song you've ever heard?
I think it's catchy, it's fun, it's a bit pop-ish - it'll sell!
And for those of you saying it "doesn't compare to true Country music"...I really don't see any other new country starlettes doing it justice either (Jesus Take the Wheel"? Uhhhh... You Belong With Me?" Barf in my mouth, please.)
There's no need to be freaking out over this. It's a song, move on.

Totally. From the put upon twang to the way she overemotes everything.

What a kind gesture.
Her lipsyncing was "so much better" in LB.
Who's freaking? One can dislike a song without being ready for a straitjacket.
I know a lot of country purists are always griping about Taylor and Carrie. (Boy, do I know.) But you know what, I think they at least make a little bit of an effort to sound like country singers. I don't think Bundy is making any effort at all.
And just for the record, I'm not much of a regular here and haven't heard much gossip at all, so my opinion isn't based on who she sleeps or doesn't sleep with. She can sleep with the president of the United States for all I care, but if she wants to be a country singer, she should try to sound like a country singer. The way she's going, it sounds like she'd be better off singing straight pop.

thanks for shilling "zig"! :) always wonderful to have a new shill on here.
I too love the big eyes and wide mouth lip-synching of LBB. It's almost like i am watching Legally Blonde acting all over again. Ah the good old days. Someone should teach a class on that type of "All Shook Up", "Legally Blonde", "Hairspray" acting style. It's like "theme park acting" on Broadway.

Love it, this girl can do everything!
But it is too typical country for mainstream radio

OK im sorry but the people who are saying she is acting to OTT in the video.....are you thick?
Look at the video and the concept, its camp, its supposed to be a bit OTT.
Im from the UK so no nothing when it comes to country music but the song is fun and the video is fun. Shes done a good job. Its always so easy on here for the no talents, wannabees etc on here to knock something down from someone whos working hard.
I was just babysitting my nieces and they had me playing Just Dance Three for the wii. One of the songs featured was Ms. Bundy's 'Giddy On Up.' It was so random! The girls seem to love it though since they sang along to all of the lyrics.
