For me, "Priscilla" is one of those rare shows that, not half-way through the first act, I know I have to go to see it again - and I'm not in the least bit a fan of "juke-box" musicals in general. There is so much going on in "Priscilla" you can't possibly take it all in during just one viewing. Other shows that had the same effect on me are "The Mystery of Edwin Drood", The Producers" and "The Drowsy Chaperone". "Priscilla" easily stands up to these highlights of musical theatre.

John, I had the exact same reaction the first time I saw the show as well. It was probably by "Go West" when I realised this was a show I would rave about to my friends and give my total support to. Shows that had the same effect on be - Wicked, the '07 Aussie tour of Miss Saigon and Billy Elliot.

Yes its not a masterpiece of the theatre, but it (and its fans) doesn't/don't pretend it to be. It is something we all need in our lives - a little fun, a little laugh, a little glitter and a little gay :)

Especially now that I'm an Aussie in the UK, I feel that I need to help this show as much as I can, which is why I've already sent 6 co-workers to the Palace - they were conservative hetero couples in their mid '40s and LOVED it.

It's absolutely true. The people who really go crazy for this show are the matinee ladies and the straight women. And very often the husbands who get dragged along find themselves having a whale of a time as well. They are the ones who see the show multiple times and write fan mail to the cast. The gay crowd makes up only a small percentage of PRISCILLA's audience.

So true. This show is loved by groups of women who love the disco music that is so strongly featured. I'm sure they are the first to stand at the finale. Personally I could sit through PRISCILLA quite easily multiple times, I couldn't stomach MAMA MIA more than once and avoided WE WILL ROCK YOU (no you won't) like the plague.

That's a picture of my mum. It looks like she's holding up two enormous cheeses but she is in fact modelling her favourite bra. It's her favourite... holds up the old kickmasters a treat.

After the first five minutes of this show i knew i was going to enjoy it even after the annoucemnet mentioned that Jason Donavan wouldnt be appearing.

As i'm not the biggest Donovan fan in the world this didnt bother me in the slightest and since his understudy did such an amazing job there was no cause to complain.

The whole show simply screams 'FUN' in your face for two plus hours and thats exactly what we need at the moment.

I applaud the three divas who had some of the best voices i'd heard in a long time. I can quite undertand why the show had had a few technical problems at the beginning of the run as everything needs to run work so tightly.

My only grumble is that at certain numbers everything seemed shoehorned in and the there didnt seem to be enough space on stage for the bus as well as the whole cast. I suppose this was originally designed for a larger stage in Oz.

But still it was a great night nearly spoilt by a couple of rouwdy lesbians and a bar man who just couldnt get the cork out of a small bottle of pop - hysterical

Not long back from London after seeing 'Prissy' for the 2nd time on Thursday night and I have to add to the praise for Craig Ryder as Tick - he did an excellent job. He was a lot less angsty than JD in the role and it was fascinating to see a different take on it. I would have been interested in seeing how JD had evolved the part, but I can see that next time. re: 'Three Aussie Poofs In A Bloody Big Bus' -The Reviews

Talking of which, I thought Tony Sheldon and Oliver Thornton were even more sensational in their roles than on March 10th. The audience reception wasn't quite as amazing as the first night (which probably ranks as one of the very best I've ever experienced), but it was still mightily enthusiastic. Heard lots of 'wows' on my way out.

Watched the Jonathon Ross interview and, aside from the tired old drug/Neighbours references, thought it was a pretty good bit of publicity for the show - esp JR's comment about wanting to go again, which seems to be a common sentiment among those who enjoy themselves at Priscilla.

Talked to the lovely Tony Sheldon and equally lovely Clive Carter after the show and they were both full of praise for Craig Ryder and very appreciative of the continuing audience reaction. So now I'm counting down to my next visit.... re: 'Three Aussie Poofs In A Bloody Big Bus' -The Reviews

WOW! WOW! WOW!

LOOOOVED this show so much! Will definitely be going back. Far outdid my expectations, which were sky high already. Standout for me was Oliver Thornton. After hating his voice in Rent Remixed it suited this role PERFECT. Also loved Tony Sheldon and Jason Donovan. WOW at just the whole show. I think I actually gave out a scream at one point from laughing so much.

Anyone looking for a cheap way to see the show, seats E10/11 of the upper circle. GET THEM. Biggest bargain ever. Can see everything (just need to lean forward abit when they are in the very bottom corner) and considering they were half price of the seats to the side, behind and infront of them they were NOT RESTRICTED at all. Id take these over the gallery (and even back stalls) any day.

V. happy to hear you loved the show too Mark and that you will be making a return visit as well :) I wouldn't mind seeing it from one of the upper levels to get a sense of the scale / spectacle. Are you talking about the 1st / 2nd / 3rd tier of raised seating because I'm finding the various websites are VERY confusing with their different terminology. re: 'Three Aussie Poofs In A Bloody Big Bus' -The Reviews

Totally agree with your comments about OT (though not having seen/heard him in owt else) - he's superb in this, will be very interested to see how he fares in newcomer awards.
