I have won:

Hamilton (after a year and a half of trying daily)

Book of Mormon

Jersey Boys

Cats

Kinky Boots

On Your Feet (first win I ever had)

Groundhog Day

Sunset Blvd

Something Rotten

Present Laughter

The lotteries are the best! Between cancellation lines, rush tickets and lotteries I am able to see shows way more often than I ever dreamed I would! :)

As a backup option in case I decide want to pay full price for another show.  Plus it feels good to actually win something for once.

Yes, but at the expense of people getting "Unfortunately, you didn't win..." emails who actually wanted to go.

"That's why they choose alternates in case winners don't claim their tickets.  So I don't see any harm in doing this.  Plus you're assuming there's a lot of people entering the lottery for War Paint.  I figured I wouldn't be winning if there were.

Except that they don't though.

The only lottery system that will make an attempt in finding other winners is TodayTix. War Paint is through Broadway Direct, meaning you did take someone's chances, regardless if it's 1 or 100 other people applying. And this is why many people prefer the in person lottery over the online ones.

"So what you're saying is people should enter one and only one lottery on Broadway Direct since if by chance you win more than one, you'll be taking someone else's chance.  I'm pretty sure most people are entering lotteries to as many shows as they can to maximize their win opportunities.  And yes, there will be times when lottery winners don't claim their tickets (because they won another show or because they changed their mind and wanted to see something else).  It's just the way it is.

But your previous reply was that you enter lotteries "As a backup option in case I decide want to pay full price for another show." If you enter competing lotteries and win more than one, that's understandable. But to enter  just because it "feels good to actually win something for once" is unfair to people who want to win AND actually see the show.

"I guess I should be more clear.  I do want to see War Paint, but it way down on my list of show I want to see.  When entering the lottery, I have all intentions of seeing if I won, but it was always a backup option in case other shows fall thru either in other lotteries or at the tkts discount booth.  I don't enter just to feel good about winning.  Feeling good to actually win a lottery was the consequence of entering the lottery for War Paint, not the reason.

I don't think you can enter for Mormon same-day, so you will probably hear the day before the show you actually entered for, no?

I could be wrong, but I believe Broadway Direct's system won't allow you to win for two shows that are at the same time... you can win matinee and evening on the same day, but not two evening shows...

And yes, not buying one lottery ticket because you won another is a different story... When I started doing the online lotteries I was always afraid to win something from a different system and then win Hamilton, this is when they used to announced it at 4pm... silly me, it's impossible to win Hamilton! Lol

You never know, I won it in June!

But yeah, if I need to catch up on shows, I'll enter a few lotteries for the same day/time, but so far never won two yet.

Yeah, come to think of it, I never won two lotteries on the same day either... not sure if I would consider winning two lotteries luck though, specially if it's two shows I want to see!

Crazily enough, I once won two different lotteries for Allegiance for the same day. One was the normal lottery ticket that you need to purchase through Telecharge. The other one was through Broadway Box, which back then was having daily lotteries for a different show each day. I used the tickets I won from Broadway Box (they were free!), and purchased the telecharge lottery tickets for a couple of friends.

And another time, I won three lotteries for three different shows on the same day. One was an Audience Rewards sponsored trivia contest for NY Spring Spectacular tickets, the other for Shakespeare in the Park  (Troilus and Cressida) through TodayTix, and the third for Something Rotten. Pretty much worked out because the NY Spectacular tickets were vouchers that you can use for a future date, Shakespeare in the Park was for later that night, and Something Rotten was for the next day!

With all my luck for online lotteries though, still waiting for that luck with Hamilton lottery. I've been entering for a year and a half (nearly daily) now and still get disappointed when I see that "Unfortunately" e-mail!

Between my husband and myself, we've won a few lotteries. Whenever we are in NYC, I will go through and pick out holes in the schedule where we could fit a show that we don't already have tickets for, and then we both enter all of the lotteries that we're interested in for those times.

Our most recent win was Groundhog Day - he lost, but I won, and we ended up sitting in decent seats in the mezzanine. I thought it was nice that you were able to choose your own seat, but I imagine that's only because the sales were not great. We both got loser emails for the following day (for that lottery, you can enter for a few days at a time in advance).

We also won for Matilda and Fun Home, after a couple of tries a piece. For Matilda, we were on the extreme side of the orchestra in the second row, and for Fun Home we were on the side of the theater, close to the "back" of the stage, about four rows up from the floor.

Of course, that's three wins from literally dozens of entries, and those wins are all for shows where it was clearly fairly easy to win the lottery.

I won Dear Evan Hansen in July but did not see the email because I am an idiot. I was so annoyed at myself... I won Great Comet and Phantom but couldn't go because I had a family conflict and gave the tickets to a friend. After two months of trying, I won the Anastasia lottery and had extreme right orchestra B which was still very good. I also won Groundhog Day and had Mezzanine C  dead center which was great too!

Does anyone know why or have an idea as tow why the Wicked digital lottery was discontinued. I notice the the site previously that there would be no lotteries held between sometime in early July to August 4th. When I returned August 5th to see if there was any lottery information, the page hadn't been updated and the link to the lottery was still presenting an error message that the page or lottery no longer was available. I contacted the group which runs the theatre and they told me that they have reached out to thembut they have not yet made a decision as to whether they would continue the lottery or not. When I chedked the site the following day, the digital lottery details were removed from the FAQ page uner lottery. I guess they're just back to in-person lottery. Is this something that is typical for the Wicked lottery and why did they decide to have a large pause in the beginning of summer.

I won Wicked the first time in a in person lottery. Amazing seats in the first row. I also won Anastasia and Frozen the first time I entered for this trip and went to Anastasia but couldn't do Frozen. Anastasia I got a extreme side view seat in the 3rd row of the orchestra, Frozen I know you can choose between different seats (some orchestra some balcony).
