So when I went to NY in December I had my tickets to Falsettos, but I wanted to see another show. So I entered lotterys! For the first day I won nothing and for the matinee the second day, but I ended up winning front row seats to Hamilton that night and I was blown away. I wanted to know what everyone here's experience with lotterys are and if you guys have won any? Thank you!

My experience: I won the on your feet digital lottery the first try and i won the kinky boots lottery after like 2 months. I have been entering the book of mormon digital lottery every week as well as hamilton and phantom of the opera. Book of mormon is obstructed view for 50, hamilton is first 2 rows for 10, and phantom is front row for either 28 or 40 im not sure. For on your feet I sat in mezzanine center row F. For kinky boots i was in box left row F or E. However, i have seen on your feet lottery winners be seated in the front 2 rows, boxes, front mezz, as well as everywhere else. In the one hour time frame they give you, I paid at 2:49ish so I think it depends on what time you paid in terms of where you sit. For kinky boots, they announce the winners at noon and you have until 10pm to pay. They sell all of both boxes to the digital lottery winners. I paid around 1:20ish and was seated in box left last row. On your feet was 40 and Kinky Boots was 37.

I've won two lottery's in the last month to Cats and In Transit. Cats, I was in the Front Mezz row B in the last seat of stage left. Not bad, right where the cats came out from the side so the ensemble would interact with you. Cat was a digital lottery. For In Transit, I was in row D at the aisle seat. Since the theater is round (Circle in the Square) I would say it was the 5 o'clock position if the stage was 12. In Transit was through Today Tix app which was really easy because they notify you if you won on the app not just email. Great seats and definitely worth the prices for both!

I've also previously sat in the front row for Book of Mormon and Kinky Boots. I also look at rush tickets when I know I lost a lottery.

Hope this is helpful!

I've won the CATS lottery over 10 times which are 40 each. Seats vary depending on availability, so take a look at the seating chart before entering to see where you have chances of sitting. Wicked I won on my first time entering which was 35, and the seats were row v seat 5. Book of mormon after entering for like a month straight I finally won which was 50 for partial view, I also won in transit but I passed on those. For phantom I have won it 5 times however have only gone twice. They recently raised their lottery price to 40 bucks which is normal now but was at 28 dollars for the longest time. The seats for both times were second row first seat in on the right hand side.

Digital lotteries I have won: $39 In Transit (TodayTix), $30 Fully Committed, $35 Fun Home (TodayTix), $35 The Crucible (Jujamcyn) and Kinky Boots (Jujamcyn).

I've lost count of how many times I've lost different digital lotteries. I know for Hamilton I'm about 0/80 on entering over the past year. Something Rotten I was about 0/30. I still prefer in-person to digital; I wish more shows would start that up again as chances were significantly higher of winning.

I  won 4  times:

Cirque du Soleil Paramour  - mez, but 2nd row ( $35, good view), first try

On your feet -  Orchesta, right, 5th row, good view ( about five (5) tries, I think $40)

Kinky Boots   - balcony, matenee, but good view ( about one week of trying, about $40)

War Paint ( won  June 16, past Friday)  :  great seats in central mez row C ($ 40)

I am  entering every day for Hamilton and  Book of Mormon for three months - No Luck  so far!!!

The only lottery that I've won was the On Your Feet!. Mid orchestra, extreme right side. Could see everything though so I was really happy with the seats! 2nd try

My friend on the other hand has the best luck winning. She's won In Transit, BOM and Paramour (couldn't attend that one, was her 1st try). In Transit was mid orchestra, center seat. (1st try) BOM we won 4th row right orchestra extreme side but again we saw everything. (3rd try)

I've been incredibly lucky in my winning of ticket lotteries. The first time I entered one was for the Wicked lottery right after New Years and I won! I was the fifth name called and was able to score the front row tickets on my first attempt!

For my 20th birthday later in 2015 I won the lottery for The Book of Mormon and then the next day I won the TodayTix lottery for On the Town.

Over Spring Break last year I played the Phantom of the Opera for a Thursday matinee and scored second row seats for that.  Then over the summer I won the School of Rock lottery and received second row seats as well.  Then to complete the Andrew Lloyd Webber trifecta in November I was able to score a Monday night ticket for Cats.  My seat was located in the very last row of the orchestra in the center of the aisle located right next to the tech booth.

Ive also won the lotteries for Fun Home, Therese Raquin and Kinky Boots but ultimately were unable to attend the performances.  I've had fantastic luck with the lotteries over the past couple years as all of my wins have been of first attempts.

Yet to win the Hamilton lottery though haha

Not sure if this should count, but I won the AiP lottery six times in one weekend last summer. I also ended up winning The Humans lottery that same weekend. Didn't end up seeing either show but it was a fun experience entering!

Why do people join lotteries without the intention of seeing the show?  You know the price, you know when you're entering the lotto for...

it took me almost a year to win Hamilton and I tried every day! I can't believe some people win on their first try, lucky you! :)   The day I won, I entered for 1 ticket, back in December on a day when I thought for sure it was going to be tough to win.    I still try to win Hamilton to this day for two tickets to take my BF.  I'm also trying to win Great Comet.

In the past I've won lotto tickets to everything from Book of Mormon, Wicked, Lion King, Falsettos, American Psycho, a bunch of other shows.   Break a leg you guys!!

This comment is made a lot and the answer is really simple. I always have intentions on seeing the show when I enter, things come up in our lives at the last minute and it prevents people from going. I'm sorry if you are personally offended by people not going to lotteries that they have won.

The first lottery I won was On You Feet! when I discovered what lotteries were, it closed about two hours before the other lotteries closed, so I decided to wait it out. I was so sure I was going to win Hamilton with my luck. I didn't!

I've also won: An American in Paris, Kinky Boots, Fully Committed and School of Rock.

Do you think my Chicago ZIP code increases chances of winning? Like a certain amount of tickets are reserved for out-of-state addresses?

I enter lotteries pretty regularly on the weekends and occasionally on weekdays. I won On Your Feet twice in August, Falsettos twice in December, and Cats for the first time yesterday. For On Your Feet, I sat in the front row of center mezz, then somewhere in orch. Falsettos was the middle of the left mezz, and Cats was in the middle of the left orch.

That's fair but the poster in this thread said he won AIP 6 times and didn't go once. That's ridiculous. No excuse for that.

If this is the case I am the unluckiest person in the world.  I've entered several lotteries each time I've been in NY (Hamilton multiple times, Something Rotten when I figured no one even cared anymore, BOM, Humans at the end of the run, Great Comet, School of Rock, Curious Incident and more). I live outside of but within driving distance of Chicago so I've entered the Hamilton lottery on numerous occasions. I have never, ever won a lottery!!  I have heard speculation that an out of town zip gives you a slight edge but it's never helped me!  I've paid full price for everything!

This is why I don't like digital lotteries and preferred the in person lotteries. If you're already there in person and you win, you pay and attend the show. Versus, if you win and decide not to go so you don't pay and the tickets go to no one.

Don't enter if you can't 100% attend! It isn't fair for those of us who can actually attend the show to lose when others win and just decide not to go.

A simple solution to this is taking people's credit card info upon entering, then if you win, you're automatically charged.
