tim is an amazing performer, and was a fantastic marius. wooden, stiff....not on your life! incredibly versatile, and will be great in whatever show he is in.
Oh no! Someone disagreed with your opinion! Ther4 they is rONG
*curious*
I am seeing him on Feb. 20. i'll let you guys know how he is

nah lizzie, it ain't that serious. it's just that when one goes so far as to say that he was "the worst marius" i feel like i must post a contrarian view
bump.
anyone see him?
Listening to the sound clips on his website his voice is interesting. He definitely seems like he's going to take the role of a more angry Roger, but that's just judging on his voice...
just got home...saw him in the matinee today...and i have to say that i really liked him a lot. i thought his voice had this great rock edge to it. the acting was pretty good...dodgy at times, but then again he did like -just- start...i'll give him the benefit of the doubt and am sure he'll grow into it.
the show was fabb. i love tim, luther creek, and MARK RICHARD FORD. love love love MRF. i actually made a HUGE fool of myself in front of him...i was backstage and he walked by and i kind of squealed a little to myself (at least i THOUGHT it was to myself!) and he kind of turned around and was like hiii. gahhh. i also got to meet tim...seriously, i could not have met a nicer guy in my entire life...he was gushing on and on about his wife...adorable!!! i can't wait to go back.
eta - tim definately has the angry roger down...but not all the time angry like will...just the sometimes angry like PMS. but when he DOES get angry...oh boy!
i was with kook, and tim is my new favorite roger. brilliant and a half.
Sorry Scooter...just my opinion...and based on the 15+ other actors I've seen in the role, I think I'm entitled to it.
Glad you liked him. You're obviously not the only one. He did get the role for a reason, I guess.

MRF is back? Cool.
I'm glad to hear you guys liked him. I'm seeing him next weekend. I don't think anyone will ever top Will, but I'm glad Tim is good.
That's good news

Was at the matinee today.
Tim Howar is my new favorite Roger.
Mark Richard Ford is STILL my favorite Collins.
I plan to watch him next week.
Young brother, I don't agree with you either. Tim is one of the best Marius I ever saw. And I saw a lot either.
The worst Marius? Did you catch Adam Jacobs?
Updated On: 2/8/06 at 04:00 PM
Adam Jacobs wasn't THAT bad. I just saw him three days ago.
I did love Melissa Lyons as Eponine though. And, yay, I got to see Jennifer Butt again. Joy!
Well, I didn't say Jacobs was the worst. Just pointing out that if Howar was the worst, then what should I call Jacobs?
I like Melissa Lyons too. Heard a lot complaining about her being bland. I don't agree. I thought she sounded beautifulwhen I watched the show.
Tim Howar is my new favorite Roger.
Mark Richard Ford is STILL my favorite Collins.
Tell us more!
I saw MRF 4 or 5 times as Collins. Really liked him.
I didn't think she was bland. She was better than the original Frances Rufelle, who's voice was waaaay whiny.
Okay. Back on topic now.

There isn't much to say - MRF's "I'll Cover You: Reprise" is simply unmatched by any actor that's ever played collins. He brought the theater down, it was incredible.
Tim Howar is the only believable Roger i've ever seen. Cary came close, but it still seemed like they were just broadway singers pretending to be rockers. This guy had the anger, he had the rock voice, and he had the look.. awesome!

I'm always curious when people say "that I've seen", just how many that is and who it is comprised of. Because if you've only seen Cary, then obviously Tim is a more believable Roger.

girlfriend, you took the words right out of my mouth. I love Rent fans. Any time there's a new castmember, they're suddenly 'my new favorite'. It's amusing. :)
Regarding Cenoern's claim of MRF being unmatched by any other actor to have played Collins, I can think of at least three, that I've actually SEEN live, whose ICYR I enjoyed more.

I've seen Sebastian Arcelus, Colin Hanlon, Joshua Kobak, Jeremy Kushnier, Cary Shields, and Tim Howar as Roger. Does that qualify me? :)
And as Collins
Marcus Paul James (ugh), Destan Owens (2nd best), Mark Richard Ford (amazing!), Phillip Dorian McAdoo (spelled his name wrong. he was just awful)
I saw MRF 2(?) years ago and have loved him since, was very upset when he left. Cary Shields was my favorite roger, with Jeremy Kushnier second, but Tim Howar has moved ahead of both of them.
And for the record, I am not just one of those RENT fans that things all the new people are better. Maggie Benjamin was my favorite maureen of all time and she certainly isn't new :-P

Cenoern, my point was that you said "any other actor to have played the role". You didn't say "any other actor that I've seen play the role". That's the difference. Like I said, I can think of at least three (of the 11 I've seen) whose reprise I enjoyed more than MRF. Having a favorite is fine but it's not the same thing as claiming someone is the 'best ever'. That's all I was saying.
Superficial question: Is Tim now blond?
<< check it out. i'd say semi-blond...definately not Will Chase or Luther Creek blond. but it's something.
