I think the should give a best musical award for Drama and Comedy! Like they do for plays.

Huh? They don't do that for plays.

And by plays you mean movies at the Golden Globes?

Yeah, and that wouldn't work because most of the best musicals are neither comedy nor drama, but a nice mix of both - like "Gypsy."

And, I just don't get the Next to Normal love. Sorry, I've seen it numerous times and each time I'm just so emotionally uninvested. Shouldn't I care about the characters? If I don't then what's the point? And I didn't.

RippedMan- if you don't like the show, why would you see it numerous times?

I agree that N2N should win but also agree that a show touring well is a big part of a show getting the Tony. To say that BE will tour better than N2N is a huge understatement

God I hope it isn't Next to Normal. The ceaseless, irritating music in that show and the way it was sung nearly drove me crazy. I kept looking at my watch and wondering when I could get out of there. I honestly feel it has a very limited general audience appeal. Just explaining the premise to the non-theatre crowd (the people who go to the theatre 2 or 3 times a year and don't live and breath it - like here) and they can't understand why anyone would spend their money or time at a show like that. And they haven't even heard the music!
