Hey everyone
Phantom just posted a comment which just got me thinking- I think Tina Maddigan could really be a great Glinda in WICKED (once THE WEDDING SINGER closes ) She has the comedic chops, has a very good voice (don't know if she can do opera, though), and I think would do very well in the role!
What do you all think?
She's not the first perosn I would have thought of, but it's a very good idea. That would actually be really funny.
Forgive me for what is probably a very stupid question, but... What does Kate Reinders have to do with it?

acting wise she would be fantastic.
but i dont know if she can sing opera or close to it?
she does the most hilarious kristin chenoweth impression... i could see her just doing galinda as kristin doing galinda... LOL
Can she serve justice to the more operatic parts?

actually, in a little performance i found on the forbidden site, Tina plays an opera diva (it was for some benefit thing MAMMA-MIA! did) so yeah, she can actually do some fair opera, :P
Kate Reinders isn't an especially funny comedian or a particularly gifted soprano vocalist. If she can play the role on Broadway without being a powerhouse in either of those areas, than I see no reason why Tina Maddigan would fare any worse in the role.
Dream cast.

Who would you rather see? Ms. Benanti?? HA!

see I know Tina would be killer in the role. It's just the whole soprano notes I would worry about. I know she can hit em high, but could she do it for an entire song? 8 shows a week?
hmmmm got me thinkin now...
Actually, that's not such a bad idea, Phanty.

is there a whole lot of soprano notes? i can only think of "No One Mourns the Wicked" and "Thank Goodness", and both dont have tooo much soprano notes
i think she could pull it off. maybe a little bit of "opera" training, but other than that, she would be magnificent!

I think the highest note that Glinda hits is a high A.
Laura is an Elphaba. Tina could so do Glinda. You forget, she played Sophie in Mamma Mia!, a role that is MUCH MORE vocally demanding than Julia.

Tina might prove very interesting as Fiyero...

jasobres: Actually, Glinda hits E6 in "No One Mourns the Wicked."
There is only one Tina Maddigan. Except no imitations!

....Maybe Kristin did live, but the highest note I hear on the cd is a B below that. And the other Glindas definitely didn't do that. But the end of Thank Goodness is a high C...that's the highest I can think of.
I think Tina would be really cute, I'd go see the show again with her in it =)
She would be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
