"Who would you rather see? Ms. Benanti?? HA!"
She could actually hit the notes.
But she's no Glinda. She's an Elphaba!

hmmm, she would CERTAINLY be absolutely adorable!! I could see her acting the part REALLY well. But... does she have the vocal range? is she classically trained? she totally could be, I just really dont know enough about her to know! haha. If she could do it vocally she'd be awesome! I just wonder.. but really, WS isn't the best judge for vocal ability and range anyway, cause its really not the most difficult/rangy seeming music anyway, especially for Julia's part :)
Laura, if she had the look for g(a)linda (which she doesnt. She's gorgeous, but she's just not g(a)linda-y. And the problem is she has the LOOK of an elphie, and coud act the HECK out of the part, but I dont see her being able to do really heavy belting- she seems so much more legit soprano) would be effing amazing too! I really would love to hear her thank goodness.. I could imagine it being orgasmic :P

"Laura is an Elphaba"
God would i DIE to hear laura sing "As Long As You're Mine"! talk about being orgasmic. but can she do the belting? dont know. but man, that would make my life! haha.
"She's gorgeous, but she's just not g(a)linda-y"
well as far as that goes, hair an make up could DEFF take care of that. but i understand exactly what youre saying! she isnt galinda-y lol.
Phantom, now I remember why I like you.
incidentally, I do have a real question to ask. when did this tina maddigan craze start? I'm not being condescending here, I actually am curious to know at what point she became a household name among a certain cross-section of theatre fan. I was out of the loop for several months but it seems that she's done something very impressive recently. I was slightly aware of her previously for being good in MAMMA MIA, but her stock has risen at an impressive speed. Was she particularly good filling in for Benanti? I was honestly unaware that WEDDING SINGER really had a loyal fan-base, since it could have probably managed an 8-month run just on name recognition and a very good Tony's performance. Just my opinion, but the show was pretty unremarkable. Glad to have seen it once, but also glad that I didn't pay full-price.
SINGER being a thing of the past now, I am actually curious to know what Tina Maddigan did to win over so many fans.

"If Kendra could do it, Tina can"
I was just going to point that out. Kendra Kassebaum is very much an alto, and although her vocals weren't fantastic, she still did the part justice. In 'Thank Goodness', an ensemble member actually went behind her and sang the high note at the end. It worked.
I don't know too much about Tina, but from what I've heard, I think she could pull it off. Especially the comedic acting. I'd love to see a 'Popular' from her.

i know! Tina's version of "Popular" would be hilarious! :)
someone really needs to tell Tina to do this...

Nowhere in Wicked does Glinda sing a high E. Megan Hilty would occasionally pop up to a high E (at the end of "No One Mourns the Wicked") or high F (at the end of "Thank Goodness"), but those are not written in the score.
I think if Tina Maddigan worked on it for a little bit, she would absolutely be able to pull it off. Look at Kendra Kassebaum... Did anyone think she'd ever be singing soprano? She may not have been the greatest soprano, but she definitely did it well.
I think she would be a good Nessa. However, she was just on covering a lead role for a month and has gotten a decent fan base from it. I don't think that she would go from lead role to supporting character. It's like something I read in another thread. Someone asked if Hilty would make a good Penny in Hairspray. Someone answerd yes but she wouldn't go to a supporting role after she just did a lead. And keep in mind, that she did glinda as her first show on Broadway.
Why is it that every cute blonde on Broadway is lauded as 'perfect for Glinda'?
I think she'd be great. Very different, but great.
And I think as Winston said, she could be Nessa too.
I might go back to Wicked if she's in it actually, lol.
Sorry, but I don't like the idea of Tina playing Nessarose. She's definitely a Glinda! Every time I think of Nessa I think of JLG and Tina's the total opposite of her, if you know what I mean.

so phantom, jw, but you suggested laura as elphaba and tina as glinda. what would you think of the 2 of them together?
Somethingwicked. I agree with the qustion you asked about why is it every blond actress on broadway is perfect for Glinda. It's like asking why is it people that because an actress can belt, she would make a wonderful Elphaba.

well, because Tina would be more capable in the role than other blonde actresses
I like you bwayondabrain!
Tchi4Lif188- I think they would be PERFECT TOGETHER!

haha, ok. lol.
all im saying is as much as id LOVE to see the two of them together in these roles, i just dont know if they could sing it. i have no idea. but deff something i would LOVE to see!!!
Her personality is very Glinda-esque, but I don't know if she can hit those notes 8 times a week.
Laura is a classic legit soprano.
Look at the roles she has played... Cinderella in ITW, Claudia in Nine, Maria in Sound of Music, etc.
She is not a mezzo-belter. She would absolutely never be Elphaba.
