This will be great. Sydney is excellent on Euphoria and White Lotus. Excited to see where her career heads.

Fantastic! I’m so delighted to hear this! Curious to see how it translates, and whether or not they will keep the verbatim script or flesh it out to a full screenplay. but I have a feeling it could work very well.

I have a really good feeling about Sydney Sweeney. Her career trajectory reminds me a lot of Lindsay Lohan: the same "former child actor bursts into stardom as a young adult, becomes a style icon, a major sex symbol AND a respected dramatic actor almost simultaneously" story.
But luckily, we are twenty years out from Peak Lohan, and the conversation on celebrity and mental health has evolved. I can tell Sweeney seems to be in a much healthier place than Lohan ever was, and with any luck her career won't suffer the ups and downs so many past actresses suffered when they tried to break out of (or at least expand within) the sex bomb archetype.

Lohan's costars Rachel McAdams and Amanda Seyfried seem like more apt comparisons for Sydney Sweeney –– Lohan wasn't really "respected" as an actress in her heyday, and her personal life overshadowed her talent. (Lohan was also 19-20 when sh*t went down, whereas SS is 24 with a bit more real-life experience.) SS has received strong reviews for her work on EUPHORIA and LOTUS and now has things like this and a Marvel movie upcoming.

I could see it working either way - a claustrophobic, intense drama could work the way Florian Zeller did it in The Father, but part of me also would like a wider canvass involving bits of how she came to become a whistleblower in the first place and the speculation about how might have been burned to the FBI by the people she gave the information to as political retribution.

I'm excited for this. I missed IS THIS A ROOM on Broadway but the premise seems very interesting and, after AIN'T NO MO, I'm inclined to watch Marchant Davis in anything.

Interesting that they went with HBO. After those reviews there must have been lots of interest and it seemed like Sweeney could have got an Oscar nomination; now it will be Emmy-eligible. But I suppose HBO wants to continue being in the Sydney Sweeney business, and they probably paid up for it.
Either way, looking forward to seeing it.

Yeah, HBO probably bought it due to their ongoing relationship with Sweeney. Unfortunately, though, movies released straight to HBO tend to evaporate into the ether (remember when they made an adaptation of Oslo starring Ruth Wilson and Andrew Scott that absolutely nobody noticed?) so it'd be best to pay close attention to the release date or we may miss is completely.
