Title Parodies...

I don't mean from "Forbidden Broadway," but from people on the street. The only one I know of is when Ethel Merman performed in the revival of Annie Get Your Gun, and many people refer to it now as "Granny Get Your Gun!"

re: Title Parodies...

Not sure how long this'll last. A couple months ago I posted about 50 broadway show porno titles. With an hour, about 100 people or so had added theirs. it was great fun...until Jose shut us down. Good luck though.

The current revival of Fiddler, I've always called "Fiddler on the Deck" or "Fiddler in the Forest"

re: Title Parodies...

Last year I saw a community theater production of MISS SAIGON, which angered some Asian Americans who think the show is racist and stereotypical. Anyway, they did their own version of the Fall of Saigon story and called it MISSED SIGH GONE, or something like that.

Also, a friend of mine called "The Light In The Piazza" the "Light In The Pizza" once, and didn't correct herself. I think she meant it. re: Title Parodies...

re: Title Parodies...

Marat/Todd is clever, up to a point. Like so many other things, I fake that I actually have had a cultural experience by getting the reference, but will readily admit that I have merely seen the movie. (At least this isn't a case of some important book that I embarassingly haven't read. *cough* Orlando *cough*)

Then there were the Beauxhommies....I mean the Beauxhommes, from Once on This Island. Yes, that was high school.

"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel

re: Title Parodies...

I like all the Jewish humor broadway spoofs at the end of the producers like
"A streetcar named Murry"
and
"Katz"
You must think I'm still sixteen. I dropped out of high school for a reason. And I don't care if you're pretty. I'm not admitting you are right. My soul is not a stage. I won't pretend I'm anything I'm not
