Honestly,
I think it would be nice of Title of show won Something at the Tony's do we think it will?
I would LOVE for TItle of show or Next to Normal to win Best Musical I think It'd be nice if TOS won tho b/c I feel like ppl have forgotten about it.
Anything is better than that Billy Elliot CRAP!

To take a joke thread somewhat seriously-
I think the most likely "major"ish category for [tos] to have a serious chance in is Best Book. I would be quite satisfied if they won that one, and that seems to be the category for loved shows from within the Broadway community who may not have the most commercial viability. Slightly less of a chance for a nom in Best Score, but I've seen a lot of predictions with it slipping in there. It wouldn't be the shock of the century if it were nominated for Best Musical (although if it WON Best Musical it might be the shock of the century), but it certainly isn't the front runner and has a bit of an uphill battle to sneak in over flashier shows.

Posted: 5/1/09 at 12:31amOkay, I wasn't sure because it closed almost 7 months ago, and not because it was a limited engagement. I'm thinking that could make it harder to get nominated, but I could be wrong. And I can't comment on the show quality because I've never seen it.

I feel that [tos] should DEFINITELY be nominated for Best Book. I'd love for it to be nominated in the other thirteen categories it's eligible for as well, but that's just the rabid, slobbering fan in me.
I will be highly disappointed if [tos] is left out of the nominations. While it's far from a "masterpiece", it was still a wonderful piece that had a lot of things going for it and deserves recognition from the American Theatre Wing.

I 'think' it was the first show of the current season...but I'm sure someone else will correct me if I'm wrong.
The fact that it had a short run will make it harder to GET the noms, imho, but doesn't make it more or less ineligible.
I enjoyed [tos] but I doubt it is going to make too big of an impact at the Awards.

It was the first musical this season. Cirque Dreams was technically the first show, but it counts as a special event.
An extremely short run CAN make something ineligible, but it has to be really short and really sudden (Story Of My Life and American Buffalo), because of the total number of performances that Tony voters have to be invited to. [tos] ran much longer than either of those and had almost a month notice before it closed. It might be harder to get a nomination just because it's been out of people's minds for so long, but it's definitely eligible.
