Today Tix for Midler's DOLLY

I just got an e-mail stating that substantial discounts are available through Today Tix foe mid-week performances when Bette returns.

Just passing on the info.

It's interesting that TodayTix is selling rear mezzanine seats as partial view, while Telecharge doesn't. I suppose they couldn't in good faith ignore the horrendous balcony overhang.

You do realize it’s not a discount . Aren’t those partial view seats at the same price if you buy direct ?

When you factor in the service charge it looks like they are even more money .

I'm assuming, since TodayTix doesn't say their prices are any less than Telecharge. I was mainly commenting on the "partial view" label, since I don't believe those seats at the Shubert are ever sold on Telecharge with that disclaimer.

Yes.  It was Dollypop that said they were discounted.  They are not.  And those are seats that I always felt should be offered in a lottery.  Greed.

I got an email too..doesnt say anything about discounted tickets to Bette.  prices look the same to me as telecharge.

No one is doubting you read what you think you read. Nevertheless; not only are they not discounted . But it looks like  they are the seats they offered daily to the people that didn’t get in on the SRO line.

This is the email I got from TodayTix:

Uhh, the mid mezz is absolutely discounted. I spent $169 for my row G mezz seat and they are $129 on Today Tix (row G is one of the last sold seats it appears).

I’m so confused why this six weeks isn’t selling better.

It's not selling we because there are some poor souls who believe they've had the full DOLLY experience after seeing the show only once.

I pray for them nightly.

Unless I am totally misunderstanding;  those extreme side mezzanie seats are the same price as you would get directly from the show.  And when you add the Today Tix fee they are even more.   Someone correct me if I am wrong; but I believe they only used to sell those seats at the theater once Standing Room was sold.   Am I wrong?   People would line up for SRO and once they were sold they would let people buy partial view mezzanie seats and sometimes some balcony.  ( I don't think I am confusing my shows.. am I? )  And as far as sales.. aside from the email blasts... I don't think they have done much advertisement.   They have been very respectful of Bernadette's run.   I suspect that will all change tomorrow.  I suspect once Bette's name is plastered everywhere the tourists in the hotels  and convention goers  will grab up the seats.  We will soon find out.

First of all, the show will sell out for the duration of her limited engagement.  That said, I think there are two reasons for the lack of mass hysteria associated with this engagement:  (1) short notice, in the cosmic order of things, coupled with summer vacation...a lot of people who might jump at tickets are simply not in NYC.  Not sure if tourists are focused on it.  They either got their tickets ages ago (to Lion King, Hamilton, Frozen, Wicked, Harry Potter, Aladdin) or they are going to do TKTS; (2) Dolly-mania is not what it was a year ago...it is hard to re-build it for a 6 week engagement.

Decades ago, A Moon for the Misbegotten was  the least expected monster hit of its season.  Originally scheduled to run 5 weeks (really!), it extended multiple times; in order to retain the actors who were a major reason for its success (Robards, Dewhurst, Flanders), they closed the show for a very short time, maybe 5 or 6 weeks, to give them time to recharge and, presumably, fulfill other commitments.  When the show re-opened, they were never able to duplicate the original excitement.  I suspect the same thing is happening here, although I clearly expect it to sell-out without discounting.  When we see the grosses, we will know if the same number of seats are premium or if they have had to reduce the number.  It appears that they have reduced the price of the premium seats, although they are still not cheap.
