#2Tonight at Wicked. 10th Anniversary and party!
Posted: 10/30/13 at 9:10pmI wonder what will happen at the event. I expect performances from previous cast members and a lot of speeches. I think the time is right for them to announce progressing towards a film venture for the show but I am still in doubt whether they will or not. Here's hoping we get some nice coverage tomorrow of what went on.

They will probably have a song or two to sing after the curtain call or cast party.

As for a return to Oz for Wicked's tenth birthday, Chenoweth will be doing film work in Los Angeles, and Menzel will be in the midst of preparing for the D.C. engagement of the Broadway-bound If/Then, produced by Wicked producer David Stone.

Well that's it. Here's to the next ten years. :)
A thank you was given at the end by the cast according to twitter. No word on the party though.

"WICKED West End & UK Tour Casts Send 10th Anniversary Greeting All The Way To Broadway"
Is it suddenly 1826 again where this little tidbit is even a necessary addendum to the article?

Just got in and had a great time tonight! The audience was on fire, but totally respectful (no screaming, obnoxious crying, etc like some other shows); it was like being at a rock concert! Lindsay Mendez is a fantastic Elphaba; I'm thrilled I got to see her performance.
Happy 10th anniversary to one of the first shows to truly cultivate my love for musical theater. Here's to many, many more!

Posted: 10/31/13 at 5:16amwent last night, what a blast, Lindsey Mendez is a killer Elphaba! and while the show/speech was great after attending other anniversary shows this year (phantom, Avenue Q) this one felt a little underwhelming, Stephen Schwartz was no where in sight, Idina and Kristen were m.i.a no sign of Joel Grey or Ben Vareen or Aaron Tveit or etc. I will say I did see Joe Mantello and chatted with Teal Wicks during the intermission but it just seemed so strange that a lot of folks who really got big off WICKED weren't their for such a big night, I mean how many Broadway shows have made it to ten years? a dozen or so?.

Posted: 10/31/13 at 6:07amPerhaps you didn't mean that Schwarz,Joel Grey,Ben Vereen and even Kristin C "got big off Wicked" but if you did, I'd counter that by saying they were rather big (or at least well known) long before Wicked.

For those of you who went tonight, was the only speech by Alli Mauzey and Lindsey Mendez? What did they say? Did any of the creative team go onstage? From photos of the 5th, Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzmann gave the speeches for that performance, but it sounds like they might not even have been there.
And did the performance itself have any unusual elements?
