re: Tony Award for Featured Actress In a Musical...

I read on the thread on like page 4 or 5 that wopats role was too small to get a nomination. I was kinda thinking Roger Bart could get it. Maybe if Xanadu is closed by the summer otherwise I guess it will go to cheyanne. And if featured actor is as you put put it BJH then is it safe to say Fitzgerald is getting a tony? He seems like the bright spot of YF to me. I absoultly love him on the recording.

Honestly theatreboy, I think IF someone from Young Frankentein gets it, it will probably be Shuler. But that's a big "if". If the Tony committee decides to snub YF, I have a feeling this will be another award for Boy Gaines, who was superb in Gypsy and garnered rave reviews. Matt Morrison and Danny Burstein will also be huge contenders. I actually think it will take a lot, no matter how good he is, for Fitzgerald to win.

I think Chris Fitzgerald is YF's best hope. He was brilliant in a rather lackluster show. He took the material and rose above it.

I agree. Christopher Fitzgerald steals the show in YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. He is the best part about it. While Hensley is great as The Monster, he more blends in where Fitzgerald shines every moment he's on stage.

Am I the only one who thought Christopher's performance was almost the exact same as in the movie. Granted, I still thought Christopher was excellent.

.....well eventhough I love me some Matthew Morrison, the part ( aside from a couple of wonderful songs) is not that big and the character a bit dull. In the original production it was Billis ( the showier role) who won the TONY.

Harvey will get nominated for Featured Actor because they love him.

Chris Fitzgerald will get one (and I wouldn't be suprised if he wins).

I also wouldn't be suprised if Chester Gregory II gets nominated, he got singled out in all of the reviews.

'Her performance was fantastic, ans as poitned out by various members on here, her acting when she could not speak was pretty stellar.'

I absolutely LOVED her facial expressions while she couldn't speak. I think she could win...only problem is I haven't seen any other musicals the past year so i can't really judge...haha

Ha. GREASE will get zero.

Am I the only one who thought Christopher's performance was almost the exact same as in the movie.

I've never seen the movie. I don't think the movie should matter. I'm judging his performance based on his performance in the Broadway musical. I judge each work on its own merit, and each performance as such. If this was a role he was reviving on Broadway from a previous original Broadway production, I could understand the comparison. But this is a completely different animal.

re: Tony Award for Leading Actress In a Musical...

I personally think Christopher Fitzgerald was the best 'male' performer in YF, but getting back to the original post...

Lead Actress in a Musical (I only have 2 right now)
Kerry Butler - Xanadu
Megan Mullally - YF

There's plenty more shows that haven't even opened yet so it's too early to tell.

Featured actress is a really tough category.
I haven't seen everything but so far my favorites are (in order this order)
Jackie Hoffman - Xanadu
Mary Testa - Xanadu (it's tough too chose between her & JH)
Andrea Martin - YF
Sheri Renee Scott in TLM
Sutton Foster - YF
