I have a ticket to attend and I would like to know wether I can just wear a black suit instead of a tux.
That's all I want is to be denied access due to a dress code ....
Anything else should I bring or not before I go?

You can wear a suit. They won't not let you in.
Don't bring a camera. I know people who have gotten away with bringing them in, but you're technically not supposed to.

Black suit is more than perfect -- that's what I've worn the times I've attended the Tony Awards. I'm one of the many that find that a tuxedo fits more in a wedding party than an awards show. A black tie formal is something totally different, but an awards show -- a black suit is perfect. Also, you'll notice that many of the males in attendance (even nominees) will be in suits and not tuxedos.

Even if you're sitting in the nosebleed seats at the Tony Awards, is it possible to be too dressed up?
My friend and I are going and both have long, fancy evening gowns/dresses to wear. It's kind of too close to Tony night to do anything about it at this point, but I like to know if advance if I'm going to look utterly ridiculous or not. :)

I've seen people wear the most inappropriate things at the Tonys & a black suit wasn't even the closest! I know 2 women who bought these things from someplace like Estelle's Dressy Dresses for Less - all sequins & Heaven knows what - & then bought Tony tickets because they needed some place to wear them. lol. A black suit is fine - clean up nice & you'll look perfect!
Have a great time.

Posted: 6/13/08 at 12:56pmMy friend and I wore tuxes, but we wanted to. A black suite is quite fine. And I agree with not bringing a camera. If they take it, you have to go back to the side door where you go in and get it back. That will take time away from stargazing in the lobby on the way out. You don't get to walk in with the celebrities but you get to leave with them. That was really fun.

Posted: 6/13/08 at 1:53pmI will also be at the Tony Awards and im very nervous about my dress. im afraid I wont be dressed up enough and wont be allowed in. Its a simple black dress with a v-neck line. Theres no lace or anything fancy on it but i do have a very pretty wrap to go with it and Im getting my hair done and nails and all that fun stuff plus i have some jewelry pieces. Does my outfit sound ok??? sorry to be so insecure lol i just really want to go...lol
