So from what I gathered from the Tony Awards twitter, the nominee concert looks like:
(Please correct me on what I missed)

Billy Elliot - (Carole Shelly's song - don't know the title)
Guys and Dolls - Marry the Man Today
Shrek - I Know It's Today
9 to 5 - Get Out and Stay Out (even though it's not a nominee)
West Side Story - Tonight
Next to Normal - Superboy and the Invisible Girl
Rock of Ages - Can You Take Me High Enough
Hair - ?
Pal Joey - not performing

Can't wait to watch it on May 30th!

based on the the Tony tweets from rehearsal I think Rock of Ages is doing "High Enough", although I also think they should do Here I Go Again...

"Sometimes on the strip, the dreams you come in with, ain't the dreams you leave with" ~Rock of Ages
"I'm a butterfly, trivial and small, and in the greater scheme of things, I don't mean much at all." ~The Story of My Life
"Forget Regret, or life is yours to miss." ~Rent

I wish WSS would do "A Boy Like That/I Have A Love". Does anyone know how that number looks onstage? I can't find an audio anywhere and it's my favorite song in the show. So how do Olivo and Scaglione do?

Um, it looks awful and boring. It involves the two leads speaking in spanish and standing/sitting on the bed. Which just confuses the audience because it doesn't help to explain anything they're saying. The orchestrations are pretty though. I noticed that while I was day dreaming during the number.

And I'm glad Next to Normal is doing "You Don't Know/ I Am The One." I think that will totally help it boost it's ticket sales. And showcases Ripley pretty well.

Here's why my vote is for next to normal to do 'Who's Crazy/My Psychopharmacologist and I':

- It presents a nice picture of the show without 1) giving too much away and 2)needing any character history to appreciate/understand the song. (Whereas those are my two biggest issues with them choosing 'Light'.)

- It's not overly intense. (I say this with love, but 'You Don't Know/I Am The One' could come across as a little too over the top on TV.)

- As serious as the subject matter is, there's still a nice humorous element which IMO really is not a bad idea to include when you're trying to sell a show that most people would assume is a total downer. (Plus, that 'favorite things' line ALWAYS kills.)

- It shows off two of the nominees (most importantly: Alice Ripley) nicely, but still manages to include the rest of the cast as well. Even with Natalie and Henry's dialogue taken out, they'd still be in the 'chorus' part of the song.

With all that said, I'm not going to complain if they end up doing 'You Don't Know/I Am The One'. It's still a great song. Plus: Aaron Tveit in high-def, yes please.

Pretty obvious they are using the Award show as a promo device for shows actually playing and who could benefit from the PR. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Just meand a few people who coulda/shoulda don't get the recognition.

Froggy2, I had the SAME thought! Out of all the songs, without giving too much away (We pretty much at least know the premise) My Psychopharmacologist would be perfect, plus, I love that song. I would rather them do that than any other song.

Oh yay, I'm glad someone agrees! To me, a LOT of the brilliance in Alice Ripley's portrayal of Diana is the way she makes her so damn charming, especially in that song. I feel like anyone that hasn't seen the show will hear 'bipolar mom' and expect some weepy, dramatic performance and automatically tune out. Seeing something like 'My Psychopharmacologist and I' could definitely make a person sit up and pay attention, maybe make them realize that this show is a whole lot more than what they expected. Not to mention, I think a lot of people will relate to the doctor-patient scenes. (Er, not the dance fantasy but the ones that occur in actual reality.)

I do also think that 'Just Another Day' could be a great one to perform... but then they'd have to figure out how to sub out the curse word, not to mention how would they end the song? I love what they did with that at the understudies concert but that was a bit more... informal. Hee.

I wish they would do "Just Another Day" too. I think it's the perfect glimpse into the family's life without giving anything the way. They could end it they way they did at Second Stage or even the way they have it now with Alice breaking down and after she goes "The house is spinning" they turn off the lights and it ends.

Or even a medley of the nominees' songs: I Miss the Mountains / I've Been / Superboy and the Invisible Girl.

I don't like the idea of them doing You Don't Know / I Am the One. Don't get me wrong, it's one of my favorite parts in the entire show, but I don't know how well it will work out of context. People who haven't seen the show will be spoiled about Aaron's character or just plain confused.
