Maybe I am miss understanding the "tweets" but on the TONYS "Twitter" is appears that

a)Guys and Dolls is doing Marry the Man Today "Marry the Man Today--an anthem for the ages from Guys&Dolls, now playing in the rehearsal!"

b) "9 to 5" is Performing "Holy Cannoli--Stephanie J. Block just 11 o'clocked us with Get Out and Stay Out."

and

c) WSS is doing "Tonight"--"Maria and Tony are singing Tonight from @WestSidestory. Oops, we mean Josefina and Matt."

Huh? 9 to 5 is performing?

Oooh, wait... are they doing the non-nominated musical performances again?

What the hell is GUYS AND DOLLS thinking doing "Marry The Man"?

Stupid, stupid idea. If they did "Sit Down...," they would sell a CRAPLOAD of tickets.

I'm not suprised 9to5 is performing, however I am very suprised they're not doing the title song.

The non-nominees (if they're doing it the way they did last year) only get to perform like a minute or a minute and a half each...so it would be hard and a waste of money to do a snippet of the opening number.

But then again, it may be different this year considering the fact that 9 TO 5 if the only original non-Best Musical nominee that is still running.

All of those numbers that were tweeted out ucjr are the numbers for the Tony Preview Concert. Those aren't the actual numbers for the Tonys.

My predictions:

Billy Elliot: Shine/ Solidarity/ Expressing Yourself/ Electricity
They'll showcase each Billy, one for each number, and then Electricity

Next To Normal: Just Another Day/ Superboy and the Invisible Girl/ Light
Though alot of people think it will be only the first and last of those three, Superboy and the Invisible Girl is the most popular song from that show. It would be almost ridiculous not to, plus Jennifer's nominated.

Rock of Ages: Here I Go Again
Because, they're Rock of Ages...

Shrek: Freak Flag OR Morning Person OR What's Up Duloc/ Who I'd Be/ Freak Flag
It depends on who they want to really showcase. Freak Flag is Shrek the Musical's song, like Defying Gravity, Circle of Life, or Seasons of Love. The others showcase performances, and seeing the full rat tap could sell tickets easily.

The Tonys Twitter also said that Carole Shelley cursed during her song...which leads me to believe they're doing a medley also.

You guys don't think that N2N will do "I'm Alive" to showcase Aaron Tveit becaue he wasn't nominated?

Edit: Not quite sure why I keep only typing half of the title. I blame Jekyll and Hyde.

There is absolutely no way N2N would do a song that is a solo, sung by a non-nominee.

All right, just wondering. I know some shows have done that in the past.

The Tony twitter is only referring to the preview concert, not anything else.

Oh, and apparently Jenn Damiano has told people that Next to Normal is doing You Don't Know/I Am the One, which I full approve of.

B3TA07: I was under the impression that's why Xanadu chose "Don't Walk Away."

And, yay, I love "I Am the One."

But "Don't Walk Away" does actually have the entire cast singing, while "I'm Alive" is strictly a solo number.

At the taping of Seth Rudetsky's Sirius/XM radio show on Wednesday, Titus Burgess "unofficially officially" confirmed that Guys and Dolls will be doing "Sit Down You're Rocking the Boat"

Though I am sure Hair will do Let the Sunshine, I wish they wouldn't, it is such a suprise when you see it on the stage, and is totally different from how people think of the song.
I would recommend they just do Aquarius

How is "Let The Sunshine" a "surprise" in the REVIVAL of Hair? It's a revival of a classic show and that song was a huge top 40 hit from the original production (along with a couple others) I think anyone that goes to that show is EXPECTING that song, not surprised by it. Nor was the interpretation of it in this revival surprising... it was very true to the original interpretation of that number.

"But "Don't Walk Away" does actually have the entire cast singing, while "I'm Alive" is strictly a solo number."

Actually, Kerry Butler doesn't sing in "Don't Walk Away." They just gave her a little bit of Tony Roberts's part to sing.

I wouldn't mind if Guys and Dolls did "Marry the Man Today" actually. I like that song and maybe they'd want to "promote" the fact that Lauren Graham is in it. But "Sit Down..." will be fun, I'm looking forward to it.

I can confirm that GUYS & DOLLS is doing "Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat" on the TONYS.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
