Now THAT'S how to do a medley that works! Sure there's a little awkwardness, but it's still better than many other medleys we've seen. Plus it's nice to get the Broadway cast up to tempos I'm more used to...

"They don't have time for Sondheim on the broadcast but they have time for a kid who won a high school essay contest?"
I think they are actually doing that for the audience only during a commercial break. I don't believe that will be televised.
EDIT: I must say....I am thoroughly enjoying this.

That is the PERFECT, PERFECT, PERFECT medly for South Pacific. That will be on my rewind button on DVR all Summer. Nail it kids - you will sell out Lincoln Center for 3 yrs with those numbers!
REVIVAL OF A PLAY NOT ONLY THE TELECAST? SERIOUSLY???? If thats the case, Top Girls should be lucky they werent nominated if theyre pushing that award to the Internet only portion. Which is WRONG, simply WRONG! There were more play revivals on Broadway this season than anything else (New Musicals, New Plays, and Musical Revials) and THATS the award to push off the air. SOMEBODY BETTER HAD CHANGE THIS BEFORE TONIGHT - CAUSE THERE WILL BE SH*T GOING DOWN FOR THIS ONE!

See, this is the internet making sure we don't totally ruin tonight for ourselves by making sure there's stuff we haven't yet seen.
Can't say I approve though.

I'm quite sad the audio cut out on Kristin Chenoweth.

This can't possibly be a live shot of Times Square. All those people are overdressed for this weather.

I wonder how they decide the fake winners?

It's totally random, and has nothing to do with who won the actual award.
They have to say "for this rehearsal only" so people know it has no bearing on the actual winner.

I'm sure it's determined by a scientific poll of fake members of the American Theatre Wing. :)
