Are Aladdin and If/Then not eligible to be nominated for the Tony's this year? The TonyAwards website excludes them from being eligible, unless it's only because they haven't opened yet. Also, which musical revivals will be eligible? Thanks
They will both be eligible. Where on the website does it say they won't be?
The musical revivals this year are Cabaret, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Les Miserables and Violet.

The Tony Awards website shows all eligible musicals and does not include the two mentioned above.
I found the page you're looking at. At the top it says that shows will be added as they approach opening night (presumably so they can include photos and video).

The Awards site doesn't list any show that hasn't opened. Pretty easy to check. Just think of any show that hasn't opened, like Rocky, and see if it's there.
And to make sure they GET to opening.

And not just get to opening, but run long enough to get the voting members in to see it to ensure that the show is eligible.

Perhaps this has been discussed and I missed it, so please forgive... why is Hedwig a revival? It has never played Broadway before.
It has had a major production in the NYC area, several around the country and is a well known property (including a film).
These elements make the show a contender for a revival.
The placement won't be announced until after the show opens but it is most likely to be deemed a revival.

I remember several years ago, the Tony eligibility committee discussed whether or not, The Frogs, would be eligible for Best Musical or Best Revival. The Frogs had been produced before, but not on Broadway. It was deemed eligible for Best Musical. True, there wasn't a film, but I find that distinction rather interesting.
The Frogs is a much different scenario. It hadn't had a major run in decades, had major revisions (almost re-written) and several new songs.
Plus, it wasn't even nominated. Hedwig will be nominated by default.

The Frogs had also had a very limited life prior to its Broadway debut and was far from being a part of the standard theatrical canon and I believe it was also the first major production of the show in NYC. Hedwig, like Cinderella, Little Shop of Horrors, and Assassins before it, has been seen in New York City and has had numerous regional productions across the country, in addition to the aforementioned film. I'd be willing to bet a large sum that it will not be deemed eligible for Best Musical and will be competing for Best Revival of a Musical.
Depending on the extent of the revisions to the book it may, however, be eligible in that category.
