Who would you guys like to see host this year's Tonys? Hugh did a fantastic job the last couple of years - will he be back this year? I'd like to see the return of Bernadette.

No, I don't think Hugh is returning.

I'd like to see Rosie O' Donnell do it.

IF the Theatre Wing NEEDS to bring in non-theatre people at any extent, it should be the host(s). Hopefully, we won't get LL Cool J (or whoever presented with Carol Channing). GET people who were, are, or will be on the stage. Ellen DeGeneres would be fun, but nothing to do with theatre.

I think the host DOES need to be someone from the theatre world. I personally would love to see John Tartaglia! Rosie would work.

I'll go out on a limb and guess that they'll ask the Spamalot gang to host- David Hyde Pierce, Hank Azaria & Tim Curry. They're the frontrunners to win some Tonys and they all have "TV-Q". Personally, I don't like it when the current nominees host, it seems too much like a coronation-- even though Matthew Broderick & Nathan Lane were a stitch. And, I don't think that many people tune in just because some TV star is hosting. If only "Kevin Hill" was a big hit, they could have Idina & Taye host. Of course, that would delight the moralisers: "Broadway! home of Homosexuals AND Miscegenationists!"

Let's say "Screw the Ratings" and have Elaine Strich host. CBS would put it on a 15 minute delay, just in case.

My choice would be David Letterman. I loved him on the Oscars and he's become part of the whole Times Square scene since he moved to CBS. He could have "Broadway Stars' Stupid Pet's Tricks!"

There's apparently a MAJOR campaign behind the scenes to draft Billy Crystal to do it -- he has one of the biggest hits on Broadway right now (musical or nonmusical) and it is sold out for months to come. Oscar ratings always go up when he hosts, so it makes sense to try to get him for the Tonys. He hasn't said yes or no yet, but if you're a betting person, put your money on him hosting the ceremony in June.

I want Hugh to do it again. Mostly because he is so HOT!!!!! But he probably won't.

Oh wow, Billy Crystal would be perfect, I didn't even think about him. He's got a recognizeable name, he's on Broadway, he's hilarious, he has experience as a host (the Oscars)...I'd love to see that. The Spamalot gang is a good suggestion, too, they'd be funny.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand why Crystal is seen as some kind of uber-host?

Anyway, he probably wants to hold out until the Tony committee rules on whether his show is a play or a special event, which will determine whether or not he'll be up for Best Actor.

I LOVE Billy Crystal! He is my favorite host!

Wonder if he'd do a musical tribue, ala the Oscars, to open?

Plum I'm not a fan of Crystal's, I just meant that he would be exactly what the league & the network would want.

It might be fun to hear that medley though, Cap'n!

I'm not mad about him myself, but now that you've said it Billy seems like the most obvious choice, and it could only be a good thing for ratings.

I would really love for Rosie O'Donnell to come back - the years she hosted it, it was the best. Hugh wasn't bad, but other than his sting with SJP, he was boring. Nathan and Matthew were obnoxious, I thought - I really loved Rosie. If they're looking to pull in ratings - which they're ALWAYS trying to do - Rosie isn't the one to do that. It's weird that someone mentioned Ellen Degeneres - she's the first one I thought of. I think she's a brilliant comedienne and I could watch her all day. I don't think the host needs to be a Broadway performer at all - it might get people who would not otherwise watch the Tonys to tune in this year.

I was actually thinking about this the other day, and Margo beat me to it! Bah. Billy Crystal would be fantastic. He's involved with Broadway this year, and he's an audience-grabber for the network. And it would be a travesty if he hosted and didn't do a medley.

I like the Spamalot idea. And (even though her show hasn't been the biggest hit) there's always Whoopi. I don't think she's very funny though. She needs to grow some eyebrows. What about Harvey Fierstein? He hosted the Drama Desks or something, didn't he? I love him.

Crystal would be great and probably the best option for this year. I don't see Ellen as a great match. As much as I love RO- she wouldnt be best either- she's been sorta or rather she polorized the broadway community with Taboo.

I could see Cheno hosting as she's had recent success with West Wing. The trick is to up the ratings, so it has to be someone who has fame on more broad spectrum than just broadway.

I'd wouldn't mind seeing Billy do it, either. His show is a huge hit and he's always a plus when it come to hosting awards shows! It might also help attract a bigger audience.

The Spamalot gang would be great! They've all got big enough names to draw in viewers (At least as far as big names on Broadway go) but if Billy Crystal is available he would be amazing. Maybe Billy and Whoopi could duel host...it would be like Comic Relief!

It would be awesome if Billy did it. It would mean high ratings, more people wanting to go to nyc, higher attendence to shows.

John Tartaglia should sooo host the Tony's .. . he's hilarious and has so much stage presence and energy. Besides he might even bring Rod/Princeton along and that would be cool.

My vote goes for Dame Edna and/or Billy Crystal. Having the two of them do it together would make my year!

If they can't get Billy, my vote is for JOHN TARTAGLIA (as Princeton & Rod) and STEPHANIE D’ABRUZZO (as Kate Monster & Lucy). Also a special appearance by RICK LYON as Trekkie Monster.
