"Bdavis, Sorry TKAI isn't as cool as Spring Awakening or something.
Glorious score, in my eyes."
For as much as I enjoyed it, you won't be seeing big revivals of SPRING AWAKENING in 30, 40 or 50 years... You won't.

I Listed shows that I can hear the entire cast recording.. not just certain songs.
Gee, the one score I'm surprised no-one has mentioned is:
THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY
Since that's easily my favorite of the last 5 years, maybe I should try to limit my top scores to one each decade.
2000's: A MAN OF NO IMPORTANCE
1990's: ONCE ON THIS ISLAND
1980's: SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE
1970's: PACIFIC OVERTURES
1960's: 110 IN THE SHADE
1950's: WEST SIDE STORY
1940's: FINIAN'S RAINBOW
Only 2 left? Jeez, I can't do this without revisiting the
1970's: A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, and
1940's: CAROUSEL
I love reading this thread because it shows such an interesting disparity of viewpoints. West Side Story, Carousel, and Sweeney Todd seem to be the most often occurring on these lists. I would personally disagree with the last choice, but that is aside from the point. I am surprised Porgy and Bess doesn't show up more often on these lists, because for my money, nothing even comes close to beating it in terms of sophistication and for a deeply American feel.

Since this thread began in 2007, "Love Never Dies" opened and closed. Regardless of the show's numerous flaws, many of which remained even in the rewritten Australian version, the score is lush. One critic specifically fell in love with the beautiful waltzes.
The show itself is glorified Fan Fiction, with the standard fanfic flaw that many of the characters act inconsistently with the show on which the fanfic is based. (For those three readers that may not know, LND is a sequel to "The Phantom of the Opera.") Nevertheless, the music is incredible.

This is a cruel and evil thread...I can't even decide, and this list is sure to change. Right now, I really enjoy (in no particular order):
Into the Woods
Follies
Sunday in the Park With George
Chicago
Gypsy
The Sound of Music
My Fair Lady
West Side Story
Les Miserables (I can't really differ a few of the songs, but Look Down, I Dreamed a Dream, At the End of the Day, and Do You Hear the People Sing alone, put gave Les Mis a spot in my list)
Mary Poppins (what can I say? I love it!)
And there are many, many more!
