Posted: 2/16/06 at 6:59pmNo idea. I've been checking out the website a lot. They haven't updated. The RENT website said that it was supposedly coming to Toronto, but that's been taken down now.
#3re: Torontonians:
Posted: 2/16/06 at 7:08pmIt said it was supposed to be at the Canon for a few days around May 16. The dates haven't been filled on the tour yet.
#4re: Torontonians:
Posted: 2/16/06 at 7:20pmWell I guess the have brought other non-equity shows lately (Cats & was Evita?) but regardless RENT wouldn't be part of their season, just an extra show they bring in for a couple nights.

Posted: 2/16/06 at 7:22pmwell...it seems Bombay Dreams and Legends will play in Toronto.
#6re: Torontonians:

Ahh I wish my parents were into theater as much as I am.
I mean, we're a pretty wealthy family so we go to see shows more often than normal people would, but if I had the choice (and the car.. and the money..) I'd totally sign up for the whole Seasons dealio.
I'm seeing LOTR March 8th though, and Wicked twice when it returns, so that's not THAT bad for this year? Haha.

That's what I meant Tag. The tour schedule said only 4 days.
I'm seeing Wicked in October, I can only afford about one show a year, seeing as how I'm a poor student.

Mirvish Productions usually announces their next season sometime at the end of March.
As for Rent in Toronto, it's still being negotiated. Mirvish does not own the Canon. They simply manage it for Clear Channel Entertainment.

Any predictions on what Broadway shows they will bring...I mean we know Wicked is returning in th fall...I think (wel...hope) that Dirty Rotten Scoundrels tour will come here. I also feel like the Little Women tour might. I doubt that the All Shook Up tour will, but I think it would be wise. Toronto likes fluffy entertainment like that in general (I mean...5 years of Mama Mia!).

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

So in Richard Ouzounian's Star article today he dicloses CanStage's 06/07 season.
He writes:
"A smaller, but equally promising musical is the world premiere of The Story Of My Life, written by Torontonians Neil Bartram and Brian Hill, who have been working in New York for the past few years, where the project about two lifelong friends has gotten considerable attention. It opens Nov. 2, 2006.
Reliable reports indicate that one of the two leading roles is being seriously considered by the Toronto-born star of a long-running American sitcom, who will find himself at liberty next season when his series leaves the air."
Anyone think this could be Eric McCormack???

#18re: Torontonians:
Posted: 2/18/06 at 5:12pmMark Cohen that was the CanStage season NOT Mirvish so Piazza and/or Assassins (is there an Assassins tour even?) could still be a possibility.

Posted: 2/18/06 at 5:36pmYes, I know. I was anticipating Canstage's season more than Mirvishes. I don't think Mirvish would do either, but I thought they might have had a shot with Canstage. There is no Assassin's tour, but Canstage doesn't often hold tours.
#20re: Torontonians:
Posted: 2/18/06 at 6:02pmPiazza is going to be a 50 city tour, so I would hope that one of those cities will be Toronto. I think the odds are good.

YAY for Eric. He graduated from my school, and is apparently just a swell guy.
And now I am PRAYING that the Piazza tour is coming to Toronto. PLEASE BE SMART Mirvishes.

I have a feeling that we will (sadly) be seeing either Brooklyn or Sweet Charity in the next Mirvish season.
Do you guys think that Mirvish was in the running for a sitdown 'Wicked' and then Chicago got it?

Yeah, I honestly think it might have been...and to be honest, I think Toronto would embrace that show. I mean it sold out its short stay here, but something tells me it would sell well for at least a year.
And can i just comment on how creepily similar Tag's Foa avatar and MarkCohen's avatar are?
