This may be somewhat off topic, as it's about a concert and not a Broadway show, but I wanted to ask here in case anyone knew.
One of my favorite singers, Loreena McKennitt just announced a tour today, and she will be playing the Town Hall theater in New York on Saturday October 17th. I was planning to take a theater trip in November, but since she so rarely plays in the U.S., I am considering bumping the trip up to that week.
Has anyone been to the Town Hall theater? Is it a good place for a concert? I usually stay at The Michelangelo Hotel on W 51st Street (behind the Winter Garden theater), so is it easy to get to the Town Hall from there?
I'll be in NY for my spring theater trip next week, so hoping I can scope it out.
Tickets go on sale Thursday, so I don't have much time to decide.
I haven't been there in a few years, but it's a fine, venerable venue in a good location. There's no reason to avoid seeing a show there. It's very easy to get there from the Michelangelo, just a few blocks.
Just to second:
- the space is more than fine
- yes, super easy to find/get to, minutes away

Town Hall has great acoustics and sight-lines. Anywhere you end up sitting will be fine. It's one of my favorite concert venues.

I disagree... It has poor acoustics. I recently saw Linda Eder there and the sound was terrible. Same when I saw Carol Channing. Try to sit as center as possible for the least amount of noise distortion.

I've seen upwards of fifty concerts at Town Hall over the past few decades, and sat in pretty much every section of the theater at least once, and I've never had a problem with the acoustics.
So, I got into a pre sale for the concert, and right now I'm looking at a section called the "Loges", because the orchestra seats Ticketmaster is offering me are only on the far left side against the wall.
Prices are good for the Loges, but has anyone sat there before?

I've sung at Town Hall before and I'm surprised to hear somebody say the acoustics are terrible, but that's far from true. From my experience, it actually has some of the best acoustics of any hall I've been in.
The loge seats are fantastic.
