I, personally, am really looking forward to TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA, which is playing the park, but is a major revival nonetheless.

Martin Short's show is supposed to open in the fall, too.

I cannot wait for The Color Purple. But the off-Broadway upcoming shows are infinitely more interesting than most of the rest of the upcoming Bway shows. I mean, two new LaChiusa shows are opening (See What I Wanna See (hopefully w/Audra) and The House of Bernarda Alba (most likely w/Daphne Rubin-Vega!)), what's cooler than that!

I hear The Color Purple is amazing, but I think the big hit will be The Odd Couple, duh! LeStat, Tarzan and ACL will bomb, who's horrible ideas were these shows. Sweeney Todd will be the undeniable hit revival.

Tarzan will be the biggest hit of all, because it has Disney behind it ! I am interested in it, plus Lestat, Princesses and Color Purple !

Does anyone know for sure if the opening date of Woman in White is Nov 17th (as reported by Playbill)? The RUG site still hasn't confirmed the dates.

Richard Greenburg has two new plays this season: A Naked Girl on the Appian Way (starring Jill Clayburgh) for Roundabout and a new play for Lincoln Center, whose name I cannot remember. Wendy Wasserstein has a new play called Third, starring Dianne Wiest and Charles Durning, to debut this fall at Lincoln Center's Mitzi Newhouse Theatre. MTC is debuting Patrick Marber's After Miss Julie (I believe that is the correct title) and David Lindsay Abaire's Rabbit Hole (with Cynthia Nixon starring). Playwrights Horizons is going to present James Lapine's Fran's Bed with Mia Farrow and Julia Stiles. Possible West End transfers include Festen and The History Boys.

BAREFOOT IN THE PARK starring the one and only Patrick Wilson

THE ODD COUPLE starring Matthew Broderick and that other guy.

CAROL CHANNING at Feinstein's.

(Is it true they're talking to Melanie Griffith about playing Cassie in ACL?)

Now hush your mouth!!!!!

Melanie Griffith got good reviews when she played Roxie Hart (to sold out houses, I might add!) She and only she can take an old chestnut like A CHORUS LINE and make it a blockbuster all over again.

Was I wrong about the soaring career of Loretta Swit? No.

Was I wrong about the meteoric rise of David Hasselhoff? No.

Did I lie to you when I predicted that THOU SHALT NOT would have people talking about it for years? No.

Trust me. Melanie Griffith is going to emerge from this as a bona fide musical comedy star. Mark my words!

The problem is, as you know, ACL is NOT a comedy musical. And Cassie is certainly NOT a comedic role. Unless, of course this new ACL takes a total different approach.

I'm interested in WIW because there's been so much buzz, and I've loved the book for forever. Also interested in the Sweeney revival, and 3 Penny Opera. Guardedly curious about Lestat. I suppose it depends what they do with it.
I'm looking forward to "Naked Girl on the Apian Way" because of Jill Clayburgh, and Diane Wiest is always fine, though I know nothing about Third.
