Showstopper Edition DVD, Blu-ray and HD DVD

The DREAMGIRLS Showstopper Edition DVD and single disc DVD will be presented in widescreen enhanced for 16:9 TVs (single disc also available in full screen) with Dolby Digital English 5.1 Surround, English 2.0 Surround and French 5.1 Surround with English and Spanish subtitles. As exciting as the DVD sounds, I've never been too keen on the posters for Dreamgirls and this DVD cover is no exception. I suppose it's better than floating heads, though.

I think it is funny that now Jennifer appears with the other girls in the photo used on the DVD cover. Why that could not have been the photo from the start who knows. And also the way it just says Introducing Academy Award Winner Jennifer Hudson is weird. They should have dropped the AND between Beyonce and Eddie, and added it before Introducing. And I just think the placement of Jennifer's name looks weird. And why shouldn't she be above the title with the rest of them now?

I know everything I just said probably seems stupid, but for someone into poster/graphic design, it is bothersome.

Also, Quibbler, while I don't like the poster art very much - I DO like the Highlights CD cover art. They are similar, but the CD cover is much better if you ask me! It looks like they made the DVD cover similar to the CD cover, which I enjoy. I just wish the poster had looked like the DVD cover (or better yet the CD cover) from the start. And I'll stop my pointless rant now.

Hard to imagine since EVERYTHING seems to be included on this 2-disc Showstopper Edition in one way or another.

The Christmas 2007 Extended Version is confirmed. All Bill Condon will be doing is simply editing the film with all those extended versions of the musical numbers incorporated into the film (as well as adding "Effie, Sing My Song" to replace the current spoken-dialogue version) AND doing the much-ached-for audio commentary he wasn't able to do for this May 1, 2007 release (due to scheduling conflicts).

I'm sure the Bonus Features on the Christmas 2007 Extended Version will also be quite small as everything is being included on the May 1, 2007 release.

It looks like Hudson's name was a last-minute addition to artwork...I'd expect it to look a bit more solid when the film is actually released. Now that she wins an Oscar she gets higher billing? I know, I know...it was probably not in her contract to have above the title billing or featured billing at all...but still....

And at least the DVD artwork makes one of The Dreams look a bit fuller-figured...previous posters/art makes them all look like Deena clones.

Damn! Who gives a fu*k about the damn cover! First and foremost -- it's all about the contents on the DVDs. They could have released it with a blank white cover for all I care as long as the contents on the two DVDs were sensational!

PS-Anyone else notice how Jennifer became as skinney as Beyonce for the single DVD cover? Here is the original image. Nice....... We can't have Oscar winners being fat on DVD covers!!!
