I was mistaken. It's February they have listed: *Patti LuPone will not perform on Tuesday, February 14 and Wednesday - February 15.
I knew they had it listed at the beginning of the year.

Its an ATG production. They produced the transfer to London and now Broadway.
I think the show may surivive to the Spring. - but not past. It only lasted in London in a 200 seated studio theatre for about 5 months

That is incorrect. It opened at the Trafalgar for a limited run after a successful opening at the Watermill and subsequent tour. It then transferred to The Ambassadors, again for a short run as there was another play slated for that venue - there weren't any other houses available after that. In all it ran 6 months in London.

Ugly Sweeney rumor day 2: electric bugaloo:
You guys have been great about reassuring me, but I sent this same friend a link to this thread. She proceeded to call telecharge and double check, whereupon she received the same story as before. She remains convinced that Sweeney is either closing at the end of the year, or Patti LuPone is leaving the role at the end of the year. (Jeez, there's just no getting through to some people!!!!)
It seems pointless to me that Patti LuPone would return to Broadway after 17 years AND learn to play the tuba only to leave the role two months after it opens. Telecharge.com has a note specifically informing ticket buyers that Patti LuPone will be out of the role Tuesday Feb.14 and Wednesday Feb.15. Why on Earth would they specify those two days only, if she was leaving the role a month and a half prior? She says herself, on her website, that she hopes the show does well because she hopes to work with these people for a good long time.
So, yes, all rational thought points to this being an open-ended run that will at least run through Tony season. Does ANYONE, ANYWHERE have a link to some kind of specific information that will definitely state this as an open run so that I can get this harbinger of doom off my back?!?!?!

Why not try calling Telecharge yourself and seeing if you get the same story? I'm not trying to be rude, but if this other person keeps insisting her information is from Telecharge, calling them yourself will confirm or deny her claims. Whether or not Telecharge is correct is another story, but I think contacting them yourself would be better than just relying on your friend's word.

wicked4life51, this is definately not a Roundabout Production and is slated for an open ended run. Information on Roundabout passing on the project can be found here: http://www.playbill.com/news/article/91817.html

Good point. I'll try that tomorrow.
I tried the telecharge website first because you don't have to actually bother a human being. I work in the service industry, and I know firsthand how annoying it can be to deal with people who don't actually want to spend money, but want to quiz you about every little thing they can think of. That's why I didn't call the telecharge line first.(Also, why I think my friend got misinformation.)
I have learned the hard way, from both ends of the issue, that if someone is not in a position to actually benefit from the information being exchanged, they are likely to come up with the easiest lie they can find to get off the phone faster. I don't know if telecharge people get commission, but even in my store (where I don't work for commission), I've been known to make up whatever lie I needed to to get the more argumentative non-paying people out of the way to make room for the real customers. (Don't give me a lecture on ethics, either. It just happens.) I think my friend was mislead by people who just wanted to take a smoke-break or something.

You could also try calling the theatre as weel, I'm sure they will be able to give you acurate information.

I will. I would have already, but all of my internet research has only ever turned up the telecharge number. I haven't been able to find a direct phone number for the Eugene O'Niell box office. (Although I'm sure a basic yellow pages search would have given me that - don't feel you have to post with either the phone number or messages about how stupid I was not to try that in the first place.)

Yes, I transposed the "i" and the "e" in my last post, and YES, I could have called the box office prior to wasting all of you guys' time.
Sorry.
I only now realize this in retrospect. Thank you to everyone who gave me their time, though. I really appreciate it. I'll try not to be so stupid in further posts.

We are all on a message board, its not like we have better thing to do than to entertain everyone's questions. Don't worry about it.
