UMA Thurman might need some dubbing in the movie version of "The Producers."

They should have gone with a lesser known star or unknown actress who could sing. They didn't need Thurman to sell the movie. Another example of Hollywood underestimating the potential of the Broadway musical.
Please note that this story is from (a) a gossip column and (b) it appears in The New York Post.
I was there, and yes, she didn't always hit the notes. But it really wasn't that bad. She's just started rehearsals. The musical director of The Producers said she's going to be great.

Though I, too, would loved to see Cady play Ulla, two more words -- Marni Nixon (or someone who can do the singing part of the role). Audrey Hepburn and Natalie Wood couldn't sing and their singing voices were dubbed. My Fair Lady and West Side Story were huge movie musical hits.
Oh, and I'm bummed that Brad Oscar can't reprise his role eiher.

Two words regarding Cady Huffman: Close Up.
"That Face" is not all that attractive when you remove the distance separating her from the audience.

The beauty of movies, is that if she misses a note, they can go back and do it again. I'm sure they will be able to make her sound fine.
It must be a really slow news week if that's all the gossip there is
I wish Cady and Brad were in the movie.

i wish they would have choosen jane karkowski(sp) now she would have been awsome!!! she has the legs the body and voice to pull it off on the big screen!!! :)
Oh Jane Krakowski would have been a great choice for Ulla.
I wish Cady and Brad were in the movie
Though it would be great if Brad Oscar was in the movie in a cameo of some sort, I think that Will Ferrel was a brilliant casting choice.
If Uma's not gonna sing the role, I'm not going. If she's gonna be in it I wanna hear her sing.

MEGAN MULLALY! she would have been amazing and would have sold tickets!
You know, this is why they should rehearse underground with doors locked.
People start rumors this way in gossip columns and they take off. I don't know much about Uma's talent but at least give the woman a chance to learn the music before you spread rumors saying she is off key and awful.
I hate gossip columnists. Look, if she's bad...she'll be bad and they'll figure out how to deal with it. Frankly, I say let them rehearse her before you judge her.
I'm sorry but My Fair Lady and West Side Story... they should have chosen people that could have actually sung the parts... How about Julie Andrews? She definitely deserved the role, and she was amazing in it.
I think it's dumb that Uma is in the movie. They should have used Caddy...

Same problem with My Fair Lady. They wanted a star in the leading role. Audrey Hepburn was and Julie Andrews wasn't. Stinks, but that's what they want to sell the movie. Jane Krakowski is a good suggestion, but she isn't a name in movies just as Cady isn't either.

Audrey Hepburn wasn't a bad singer, though- she just couldn't sing in Eliza's range. Plenty of women can't.
Anyway, it's ridiculous to read anything into a NYPost gossip item. For the most part, that paper is best suited for lining birdcages.

Why not Cadyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!? She is so amazing and talented. Uhg.
Sorry, had to get that out.
ok, well why don't you guys just keep your mouths shut and your opinions and judgements to yourself until the movie is released to theaters. you haven't even seen it yet, so therefore have no way to make a legitimate review. keep an open mind and a closed mouth. thanks.

mywonderwa11, sory if we offended you but if you saw Cady Huffman on Broadway you'd understand why she so deserved the role in the movie and just how amazing she was. To me she is Ulla.
yes, but this isn't a board to put people down before giving them a chance, okay? and you're right, i never did see Cady as Ulla and i'm sure i missed out. i'm just saying...give Uma a chance. this board did the same thing with Brooke shields before she actually went on as Ruth and look what happened there...great reviews and i thought she did it justice. just don't be so quick to judge.
