The pilot was good, but the first two episodes have been filled with cliched writing and direction, and every three minutes there's a close-up of Matthew Morrison giving his overcome-with-emotion expression. So far I'm still watching hoping for a musical number that makes it worthwhile, and Mercede's moment in the most recent episode was almost good enough.

I would love some En Vogue! Imagine "Don't Let Go."

This episode was kind of bland, but it had its moments. I loved Acafellas and Josh Groban (angel from heaven).

I saw the next episode and it is going to be the best yet. It is hysterical and Jane Lynch pretty much had me urinating on the floor.

I so badly want to like this show, but I am having so much trouble. I get genuinely bored with the cast. I hope next weeks ep is a lot better.

And.....SCENE!

I actually thought this ep was better than last week's. I tend to get really bored during this show when there isn't a musical number happening.

I agree that Jane Lynch's character needs a better motivation. Right now there are no funding problems, so why does she want Glee to go so badly? Right now I feel like she has some personality disorder. Even the cheerleader who has more of a reason (she's scared to lose her boyfriend) has lightened up, so what gives?

Also, I just don't think Lea Michele's character is a likeable enough lead. I feel her personality is uneven and it's hard for me to get attached to her.

Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

I watched the pilot, and felt nothing but desperation from the writing and direction. It's rare that you see a TV show trying so incredibly hard. I watched last night, however, because I was given a heads up that Monk was going to be a guest star. I laughed one more time than I laughed at the pilot, for a total of once, and that was at Monk's "blowsy drunk" moment.

It's just not funny nor even enjoyable. I found it a chore to sit through the entire hour last night.

Not to mention the fact that the a capella group "A Cafella"'s big performance was NOT a capella!

As much as I was looking forward to it, I found it rather uninvolving. I barely even looked up from my porno the entire time, lol.

"Sassy Black Girl"

Correction:

Sassy Fat Black Girl

The fat girl falls in love with the gay guy. Now there's an original storyline.

Some of you should stick with laugh-track sitcoms and cop procedurals...

I'm not a big fan of cop procedurals. And I don't think I watch an laugh track driven shows anymore. I just don't think this show is all that great. There are a few funny bits here and there, but it just tries way too hard to be wacky and irreverent.

I thought the episode was okay. I think the pilot was the best episode so far. I am looking forward to Lea Michele singing "Taking Chances" though!

I've enjoyed all 3 episodes. They've all had very different tones and maybe that's what's throwing people off. I thought this was probably the best written of the 3. Monk was especially hilarious and it was nice to see Garber play against what he usually does in his TV roles.

Well, I think the problem with Glee is also the reason why its successful.

It's a show involving musical numbers. That hasn't been done in this format, it's new and uncharted territory. By the looks of it, they're working it out as they go along.

For that, you have to cut them some slack. For us, being musical fans, that element is easily passable to focus on the structural flaws, but for the people behind the show - it's quite a gamble simply because it involves musical elements, and trying to find the balance and format to appeal to the masses isn't a walk in the park. That's obviously been their focus, whilst perfecting the storyline has been neglected slightly - hopefully now the show is successful, they will tighten up the flaws and we'll have a pretty great tv show!

Well, no, it's not the first show to involve musical numbers, but even so, those aren't real problem. The real problem is that all the conflict is so manufactured and forced.

COP ROCK and VIVA LAUGHLIN - gone but NEVER forgotten. Ever.

Just sayin'.

P

P.S. I'll watch any show with Matt Morrison, Jane Lynch, Lea Michele, Debra Monk, Victor Garber and John Lloyd Young. Any. This is better than most of what's out there. For whatever that's worth. CURB and DEXTER return in the next week, so salvation may still exist...

There must be something about this show- people who hate it watch it each week and then rush to come talk about how they hate it.

I don't see where this show can go, I called that even on the first episode.

1. They are moving the story along way too fast.

2. There is too much going on in each episode.

3. Most of the scenes that are supposed to be funny are not.

4. The "A Cafella" thing was dreaful

Do you think the season will end with them competing? If so, what happens then? I don't think they've really disclosed anyone's class status yet - like a senior, junior, etc - so I guess that works in their favor. I did notice Leah Michelle (or however you spell her name) has a certain stance she stands in when she sings. It's where she's got her shoulder sort of cocked up. Anyways, I hope the show gets better. It has great potential, but I think it doesn't have the right focus. There isn't really much "conflict" going on to hold the viewer and the musical numbers feel a little forced into the story. Although I thought Leah Michelle's "Take A Bow" was pretty brilliant.

You are of course entitled to your opinion Chita but you are writing your opinion as fact. I found last night's episode the funniest of the 3 and the most revealing in terms of characters. I disagree they're moving too fast. It has plenty of room to develop throughout the years. All the main characters are Sophmores and there is plenty of opportunity to introduce new characters with each school year.

I think the Acafella storyline was present to show Finn's growth in confidence, the jock's growth as a person (though he was in it for the cougar action which I foudn particularly funny), and of course Will needed to get his need to perform out of the way so he can focus on helping his kids from behind the scenes.

I loved the Kurt/Mercedes storyline (her "Bust Your Windows" was a huge highlight), loved Rachael's Streisand speech, and the cheerios transition at the end of the episode was fantastic. And of chourse, Jane Lynch is a wonderful, hilarious villian.

It may not be your cup of tea, which is totally fine, but don't state your opinions as fact when plenty of people got a lot of laughs and a lot of reason behind last night's episode. It was my favorite of the 3.

I was a huge Nip/Tuck fan so Murphy's style is familiar to me. Yes it feels random but so is life. Yes it's at times highly stylistic but the best art has heavy style to it. No it's not always realistic but this isn't a reality show.

This is definetly a dark comedy in the best sense.

Rentboy I do think ti'll end with the competition.

And yes, they have disclosed their status, they're all sophomores. Rachael says she is in the pilot. Kurt says he's 16 in last night's episode. Finn and his girlfriend talk about it too. So yes, they're all sophmores.

I still find it 1000x's more refreshing that half the crap on TV these days.
