I just saw this on broadway understudies.

01.05.09: Eryn Murman will be playing the role of Wendla in SPRING AWAKENING at the 2pm show on Saturday January 10th and the 2pm show on Sunday January 11th.

So who is gonna be on as Wendla at 8pm on Sat?
I'm going then and am curious as to who I might see.

I honestly don't know, but it's possible you could still see Socha. She's in the Little Night Music benefit on the 12th, so perhaps she's rehearsing during the day but will still be able to perform at the evening shows.

Socha will most likely be in at the 8pm show. If it's for rehearsals (which I'm assuming it is), they're probably during the day. She should be there. Pray she is. Eryn's Wendla is pretty bad.

Eryn's Wendla is incredible.
Compared to the terrible acting, and sharp Alexandra has become routine with, Eryn is better.

I think her Ilse and Martha are fabulous. I just don't enjoy her take on Wendla.

Alexandra singing is not the same as Lea's but her acting is great and she loves doing so it is great!

I think Blake was to over the top. It made th serious moments unbelievable for his take on the character.

Kyle was strictly a rock singer before Spring Awakening, was he not? I'm guessing that's why his acting was so bad. Kind of miscast, if that was the case....

Men don't even belt.

I have to agree with the choir of those who loved Blake's portrayal. I saw it with him twice and thought he was phenomenal. On an unrelated note, I'm also a gigantic Lost fan and didn't realize until afterward that it was Karl.

As for Kyle's acting: I couldn't believe a moment he performed. I never felt as though he LISTENED to any other characters; I never felt as though he had ANY clue to what his motivation was. His line readings often made no sense.

I've heard he has GREATLY improved on tour, but doubt he will still be in the show when it gets to Boston. Latest word is that he and Blake are leaving the tour in Toronto. And of course, Boston is right after that!

And Blake was no more over the top than Gallagher. IMHO.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
