When I saw LEGALLY BLONDE the first time with the full original company, I found it a fun piece of bubblegum lacking a real "star" to drive it along.
The second time I saw it, with Haven Burton on for Elle, I was blown away by how the entire energy of the show completely turned around. Burton was leaps and bounds better than Laura Bell Bundy, with a truly unique presence and quirky, sincere charisma that was exactly what the role was sorely missing originally.
I'm very disappointed she never got to take a crack at it on a full-time basis.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
