Ethel Merman and Elaine Strich,
both have horible voices and they are played way too much on Sirius77.
And I enjoyed Benadette Peters in Annie Get Your Gun.

LES MISERABLES doesn't deserve to be back on Broadway this soon. The show is not that good. One of the most overrated shows ever.
Sutton Foster is way overrated. Yes, she is talented, but hardly The Future Of The Musical Theatre as everyone seems to think she is.
I don't think Seasons of Love should have been in the RENT movie if they couldn't incorporate it into the story somehow.
I think Adam Pascal is a great singer, but was not impressed at all with his acting in the RENT movie.
I enjoyed Little Women, despite it's flaws.
I think Spamalot is overrated and the 2005 best musical Tony should have gone to either Dirty Rotten Scoundrels or The Light in The Piazza.
I don't think Idina Menzel is the goddess of Broadway. She has nice voice, but I don't think it's any better than say, Sherie Rene Scott or Sutton Foster, both of whom have gorgeous voices.
Rent should have closed 3 to 5 years ago and Tick Tick is a far better show.
Andrew Lippa and Jason Robert Brown are overrated. Men who are that taxing on the singers onstage and the musicians in the pit are just self indulgent.
I hope Company does well, but after that I hope that Doyle proves he can direct without gimick.
The Producers hate is a tad rediculous. And it seems that most of the people who don't "get how it's funny" like Wicked.
Most original versions are better than reconcieved revivals.
Chicago needed to close like 5 to 6 years ago.
Brooke Shields needs to go away.

I'm hoping that's sarcasm. It is, right?
I very much loved Good Vibrations.

Well more a lousy attempt at irony than sarcasm but i'm grateful that you pointed that out. Irony can be dangerous. Perhaps one should start an irony or sarcasm thread?

Thank Buddha! I thought you were serious and I was going to have to flame your a--. But now we can all be friends. Yay!
RENT is not a sacred piece of art. Jonathan Larson's death does not make RENT a better show. In fact, it probably makes it a worse show because he was never able to fine tune it. I love the show but I don't feel the need to kiss the stage it plays on, nor am I upset that the movie is kind of bad. It does not "desecrate" Jonathan's "vision" or whatever nonsense the movie-haters spew. It's RENT. It's not the best thing ever written for the stage, so therefore it should not be the best film ever made.

I like that, avab. That's something I would have put on here if I could have expressed it as well as you did.
Since someone already brought up High School Musical elsewhere on this board I'll post my unpopular opinion here. HSM is the most promising piece of theater Disney has come up with since The Lion King. It's like the old saying, even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then. Just lucky that they had a cable network available to actually write something new, as opposed to perpetually recycling animated films.
As long as I'm being unpopular, here's a prediction. Some form of High School Musical will get to Broadway sooner or later, and it will far outgross The Little Mermaid or any of their other upcoming pompous cartoon based spectacles.
the original post on this thread is really weird to read. ya know?

Wicked:
- I don't like SJB's voice
- I don't like Ana's voice either
- Shoshana and Saycon do not act well in my opinion
- Megan Hilty does not make me laugh
Rent:
- I do not like the voice of the original Mimi on the Original Cast Recording
Pop Music:
- I like Hilary Duff's voice
I find LaChanze's voice to be terribly grating. I can't really describe it, but I hate, hate, her voice. Her "Another Hundred People" is a disgrace to Sondheim. On it, she over-enunciates to the point where it's obnoxious.
"avenue q was good but didnt deserve the tony over wicked"
and neither of them deserved it over Caroline or Change.

Spamalot is the worst thing to happen to Musical Theatre since Disney stole Menken/Ashman and made me want more Disney shows so that their great songs may be preformed on a stage where they belong.
