I just listened to the entire Bklyn cast recording, and realized how much I miss it.

i think in my life will be the best flop, i mean its average attendance was like 35%!! and i dont expect it has made that much...
but lennon is a good flop too! :)
oh and i also think that christina sounds like a better charity than gwen verdon from what ive heard of the cd, i still like gwen, but chrisitna just sounds so much more youthful, fresh, and "lovable" as you may call it...
yeah
-I really like Uma Thurman in The Producers.
-Chita Rivera is an amazing dancer, but has an awful singing voice.
-Same with Ann Reinking.
Gerard Butler is the worst man to ever sing Musical theatre. Hugh Panaro was a better Phantom than Michael Crawford. Pacific Overtures is amazing. Merrily we Roll along is better than Into the Woods.
This isn't really an opinion, just a thought.
I just saw a commercial for Meet the Parents and they we're describing Ben Stiller as "a walking disaster", "the underdog", etc. and it kinda reminded me of charlie brown. Can anyone see him as CB in YGMCB?

The "Rent" movie, while a worthy effort, DID NOT WORK. If you didn't know what the show was about, you couldn't get any idea from the movie. It was badly lit, overdesigned (the cafe scene looked like "St. Elmo's Fire"), and inadequately edited. Idina Menzel was frightening in closeup and too big for the camera, and Adam Pascal was a hole in the screen. Jesse L. Martin, Tracie Thoms, and Wilson Jermaine Herida were the only ones who made their characters work on film.
That one's been simmering for a while now. All you gushing Rentheads ("OhmyGod! Best film EVER!!!!!) were seriously getting on my nerves.
Bact to the Oprah thing.....It bothers me a bit also, but that's why they asked her to be a producer, to lend her name and sell tickets. And it seems to be working and the other producers don't seem to mind!
THE COLOR PURPLE blows. HARD. (and Felicia Fields is gawd-awful)
WICKED blows.
Idina is a screecher not a singer.
The RENT film sucked (tho not as bad as Phantom)--Jesse & Rosario (and maybe Traci) were the only ones that were any good--sorry, Wilson & Anthony were by no means impressive at all.
Applegate should've won the Tony for Sweet Charity.
CARRIE is brilliant.
OKLAHOMA! is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Hugh Jackman is kinda boring.
Liza should just stop singing. (back in the day tho--WOW!!)
Laura Benanti has the best soprano since Julie Andrews in her prime.
Jennifer Hudson's rendition of "Easy to be Hard" is bland and doesn't connect to the material.

Stephen Shwartz sucks
Wicked sounds like an 80's musical with its terrible synthesizers
Menzel does NOT = Goddess
Chenoweth is a one trick pony
Peters should have won the Tony in 2003
on that same note, Winoker sings terribly on the Hairspray OBCR
I have never, ever been impressed with Joanna Gleason the person, the singer or the actress.
I agree, I also thought Idina was frightening in close-ups in the Rent film.
I think the score to Taboo was one of the best in many seasons.
I want The Color Purple to fail miserably.

this is fun...
Jesus Christ Superstar is ALW's best score, and, despite a few sacriliges and awkward sing-talking moments, it is long over due some good recognition (it has never won a Tony for anything)
I just watched the 1973 movie version, and thought it was actually pretty awesome...the Globes gave it a lot of recognition, but it seems to have fallen in the cracks of hollywood over the years.
Camelot is the worst musical I've ever seen.
chris rock is not funny.
Les Miserables deserves to the title of 'longest running musical of all time' far far more than Cats, Phantom, or a Chorus Line.
I agree with Gypsy about Winokur. We need a rerecording with Shannon Durig!
Now for my unpopular opinion: I hated The Producers. Nothing but cheap jokes for two and half hours, and I walked away with nothing.
I can't stand "A Chorus Line."
"The Producers" did not deserve all of those Tonys. David Yasbek was robbed.

** The people who get hired to write summaries for Sondheim cast recordings (or dvd releases of his shows) need to quit wasting so much paper on telling me how hip, cool, and ahead-of-his-time Sondheim was when he wrote __________. I get that he is innovative, now, shut up!
** GG will become the sleeper hit of the season.---- I imagine I am not the only freak out there who bought the O-B cast album due to its Jackie O. connection. So I imagine plenty of tourists will see it to find out about Jackie's eccentric relatives. (Every Jackie O. biography mentions and discusses the documentary. So people don't neccessarily have have seen the documentary or be film buffs to have heard of it.)
I don't like 'traditional' Broadway musicals. The fixed smiles, corny jokes and weak books really begin to grate and the 'novelty' of lengthy dance breaks (especially tap) quickly wears off.
I much prefered the London production of Wicked to the one I saw on Broadway as the acting was better and the music direction was superior. But it's still nothing more than a little ball of pink girly fluff with a multi-million pound budget and undeserving of such inflated hype.
I'm not sure that any new show by Sondheim will be able to cope with the huge weight of expectation and half believe that it's not worth him even trying any more...

I dislike Johanna Gleason. Alot. She just grates on me for some weird reason.
Genreally an unpopular opinion...I like Idina Menzel and Wicked and *cough*preferhertoshoshanaandstephanie*cough*.
I too don't like the traditional long musicals with big long dance routines..not my thing.
Rent should have stayed Off Broadway.
Patti should never be let loose on a paying public ever again.

i have seen two productions of Boy from oz The original in Australia with Todd McKenney and the reccent oz version with Hugh and a pirated dvd of the broadway version.
Preferred the Todd McKenney version a hundred times over. But still really enjoyed the bastardised arena version starring hugh. But nothing beats todd in the role.

I thought Emmy Rossum was a really good Christine, vocally and physically.
All the original cast members from Rent were FAR too old to be in the movie.
I do not like Anthony Rapp's voice at all as it sounds mostly nasal.
The Pirate Queen, once it hits Broadway, will flop harder than a fat kid off the high diving board.
Adam Rapp's Red Light Winter should have won the Pulitzer for drama.
The Phantom of the Opera (the show, not the movie) is a lot of fun.
Adam Pascal should stay away from movie screens and work solely onstage as that's where he truly shines.

1. Adam Pascal sucks. He was bad in Rent and Aida and is a total snob!!
2. Patti Lupone shoudl have retired years ago.
3. I hate Oklahoma!!
4. Maria Friedman is a godess
5. Judy Kuhn is horrid
6. So is Ruthie Henshall
Bernadette should have won the Tony for Gypsy.
I can't stand Ethel Merman.
Patti LuPone's voice grates my nerves!
Elaine Paige was the best Norma and should have been chosen for the film over Glenn!(if it ever gets made that is:))
I loved Roz Russel in the film of Gypsy. Other than that I don't really like Gypsy at all!
