Oh, I would never. I'm sure if Usher's involved, everyone involved will be 100 percent, pure-grade, hetero manly men.
Let's recall his words (and some of our own) at the end of last year, shall we?
Lest we forget...

I was hoping I would wake up, and this was just a dream.
I was wondering the same thing Calvin, how he would feel with all the gays. Oh well, dance captain/Fred Casely Greg Butler can kick his ass! Body and talent wise.

And I planned on going next month. Oh well, those plans are scrapped.
Fred, Bob, Gwen and Jerry must be rolling in their graves.

I will go because it will be fun. I think Usher is a good performer.
That "No gay zone" has got to be a joke - its something he says to magazines to maintain a "macho" image. I have heard just as many stories from friends who live in LA and who are "in the scene" that he's bisexual as well - and the bisexual stories outweight the gay-free zone stories.

Oh, I've heard the same.
I never said I wouldn't see it or that he couldn't handle the role. It could go either way (just like him!).
However, it should be interesting to see if he'll go to any lengths to maintain that macho image in this new medium. He'd better. Otherwise, Ludacris might never talk to him again.

Posted: 7/14/06 at 12:11pmFor the last time. There are no homosexuals on Broadway. They made the dinosaurs go extinct about the same time they flew away in their magic rocket ship to Saturn.

Posted: 7/14/06 at 12:29pmI think he'll be great in Chicago, except even if he's 27, he looks a lot younger than that... a little too young for my ideal age for Billy Flynn.
re: Rapper to Join 'Chicago' ??#58
Posted: 7/14/06 at 12:48pmI guess this is cool. But I think he's a bit young and looks young too. I wonder if they will get a "special" Roxie and Velma (perhaps a younger one) for him to play opposite of, or if they will use whoever is currently there.

I definitley think that he'll do a good job with this role.
The only thing that's holding him back would be the acting-(In the Mix..anyone?)
I could just see the madness at the stage door now...

I think he'll be really great. He's just a bit to young in my opinion.

Posted: 7/14/06 at 4:34pmI'm suprised such an enormous Homophobe decided to do something on broadway, especially being in a show where he'll surrounded by gay men.

As has been stated, there is no proof that there are gays on Broadway.
If there was, "Dateline" would do months of stories on this shocking revelation.
ps - How did you get the scoop on this, Mr Tuttle?

I do agree that is NOT what Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon intended to happen with this show, all this celebrity casting.
I'm sure if Verdon were still alive, she would have been dissapointed.
Roxie will be Bianca Marroquin, who is absolutely lovely. And is a Chicago veteran.
Brenda Braxton is staying as Velma though 7/23, but since this is Braxton and the Weisslers, she'll most likely renew.

I'm usually not for celebrity casting. ON the bright side at least they are casting someone who can actually sing and dance. The thing that makes me very avid is when people say about a celebrity on Braodway "Oh they are working so hard." What about the people who have been working hard for many years on Broadway and who aren't "celebrity's" to other people.

re: Rapper to Join 'Chicago' ??#72
Posted: 7/15/06 at 11:18pmI wont completely discredit him before he even starts, but he's not starting in the best of places in my mind. I'm reminded of my Chicago experience with Patrick Swayze, who was AWFUL.

I would prefer Mo'Nique as Mama Morton before pretty boy Usher as Flynn.
